Chapter 152: Transmigration

"Waaaah~~"

When Li Hongshen opened his eyes once more, he found himself in a rather unfamiliar place, illuminated by a dazzling incandescent lamp, surrounded by white canvas tents.

The person holding him appeared to be a doctor. Judging from the exposed eyes, this seemed to be a man of Asian descent. Afterward, the doctor carried him outside and handed him over to a bearded young man wearing a long robe.

Only then did Li Hongshen notice a red cross painted on the outside of this tent. All around him, numerous doctors and nurses were busy at work—there were Asians, Caucasians, and a few people of African descent.

Surrounding this makeshift camp were many blue-helmeted guards holding firearms. Within the camp itself lay numerous people on stretchers; some were mangled and bloody, while others were still breathing and coughing up arterial blood.

In a corner of the camp stood numerous long, white zipped-up body bags, which made Li Hongshen feel that his current environment was ominous in the extreme.

Aside from this setting, Li Hongshen also heard the distant roars of various engines and the rat-a-tat-tat of gunfire.

"Could it be that I am not a destined lord after all? Is this random transmigration mode simply not suited for me?"

Due to an infant's inability to withstand excessive mental strain, he passed out completely without even being able to claim the system's daily check-in reward.

……

Six years later, Li Hongshen stood with a group of children on a training ground. The older ones were around twelve years old, while the youngest, like Li Hongshen himself, were just over six.

Watching the burly man ahead of them brainwashing the children standing on the parade ground and lecturing them on the rules of the organization, Li Hongshen felt somewhat speechless.

In his past life, he had never experienced the thrill of doing a summer job in the Middle East. Now, after arriving in the Lord Civilization and undergoing transmigration training, he had ended up right here, transformed into a child soldier.

As for Li Hongshen's parents, they had long since met their demise. Shortly after Li Hongshen was born, his parents ignored the advice of the Eastern doctor who delivered him and took him, still an infant, to seek refuge with relatives in a neighboring country.

It was fortunate that his innate resilience and physical fortitude traits had already begun to take effect, preventing him from perishing midway, though the ordeal had still put him through a severe wringer.

After those parents joined the flood of refugees to enter the neighboring country and found their relatives, before they even had a chance to find comfort, the flames of war caught up with them.

They met their end in an airstrike by the Eagle Nation. Li Hongshen was relatively lucky, having been placed in the corner of a room.

When the house collapsed, it happened to form a triangular space, which spared Li Hongshen's little life. After waiting there for the better part of a day, Li Hongshen cried and screamed with all his might until he was finally rescued.

Subsequently, he was adopted and cared for by the relatives they had sought out. Later on, those relatives joined a local resistance organization, and soon after, fell in a localized firefight.

In the end, Li Hongshen fell into the hands of this local armed faction, and now, after undergoing a period of training, he was to become a child soldier for the organization.

This was already Li Hongshen's third time transmigrating. The first time had been relatively fine; it was a world designated by the school, which provided items infused with pheromones for a physical transmigration.

That world was a peaceful, vacation-like realm entirely under the control of the Central Lord University. Regardless, that world had contributed ten thousand Source Points to Li Hongshen, leaving him quite pleased.

What made him happiest was that when he transmigrated using pheromones, he discovered he carried a vast array of pheromones with him—anime, movies, and the like from his past life—giving him the impression that he could drop in and visit them at will.

However, in order to complete the school's assignments, Li Hongshen temporarily shelved these plans and carried out the transmigration strictly according to the conditions set by the school.

As a result, a massive surprise awaited him. The school's second task was set up as follows: a directionally selected world, soul transmigration.

Furthermore, the selection criteria for the world were of a low tier, capable of exercising a person's abilities—altogether a very vague condition.

Thus, Li Hongshen transmigrated according to the school's requirements. When he opened his eyes, he found himself sitting on a sofa, the indoor electric lights flickering on and off.

Right in front of him was a disheveled woman clad in a white robe, with one foot inside the television screen and the other on the floor, her body looking somewhat damp.

Li Hongshen locked gazes with this woman for nearly three minutes. According to an answer on a certain Q&A forum from his past life,

Staring into each other's eyes for less than 1 second indicates no romantic interest; 2 seconds indicates favorable impression; 3 seconds suggests budding affection; 4 seconds signifies deep feelings; and staring for 5 seconds or more has already reached the stage of entering marriage.

However, Li Hongshen was absolutely certain that he felt not the slightest bit of attraction toward the disheveled woman before him, nor did he wish to emulate Ning Caichen and become a knight of the undead.

Therefore, after saying a very gentlemanly "Hello," Li Hongshen suddenly conjured a set of white women's undergarments in his hand, shoved them straight onto the lady's head, and with a casual "Bye-bye," he resolutely chose to return.

Before setting out on his transmigrations, Mixian Yun had repeatedly warned Li Hongshen and the others: upon encountering supernatural worlds, old-day worlds, anomalous worlds, and the like, they were to choose return immediately.

This was because, at their current stage, they had yet to learn any occupational systems, and their utilization of energy was still extremely crude.

It could almost be said that they possessed virtually no means to resolve the problems they might face in such worlds. If they failed to return in time, they would very likely perish in that alien world.

Li Hongshen entirely agreed with this and strictly followed Mixian Yun's advice. If not for the fact that his check-in reward happened to be the worn undergarments of that disheveled woman, he would have chosen to return the very moment they met.

And now came his third transmigration mission. Once this mission concluded, the school would allow Li Hongshen and his cohort of students to attempt transmigrations on their own, striving across the heavens to acquire their own resources.

However, this third transmigration mission required a random selection among zero-tier worlds, while simultaneously mandating the use of reincarnation as the method of transmigration.

After transmigrating and growing up over the course of several years, Li Hongshen had roughly figured out his current world.

It bore some resemblance to the world of his past life, yet Li Hongshen knew he hadn't returned to that world; this place merely bore a likeness, but it was chaotic to an extreme degree.

According to global rankings, the Eagle Nation ranked first, the Eastern Nation second, and the Suro Nation third. Beyond these, there were other nations akin to the Island Nation, the Windmill Nation, and so forth.

The most glaring difference was that this world teemed with gray-market factions—such as the notorious lawless city, Roppanra, a seaside city in Thailand.

Operating right in the heart of this city was the famous Hotel Continental, renowned within neutral territories, and similar landmarks.
