There is a zombie on the train!

Chaos erupted aboard the train almost instantly. Terrified crowds surged out of the troubled carriage, fleeing frantically toward the other sections for their lives!

Among these people, quite a few had bloody heads and battered faces. No one could tell if anyone carrying the infectious virus was mixed among them. The effect of terror swept through like a storm, and everyone felt their lives were in mortal danger.

Yet, space on the train was limited, and people were already packed tightly together. Where could they possibly escape to?

The few infected individuals in the middle dining car were the first to sense the commotion, and everyone immediately grew tense.

"Your jinxing really hit the mark!" Xu Man glared fiercely at Chang Qing.

"This is no time for bickering," Bai Ge frowned deeply.

The zombie virus spreads at a rapid pace. If it wasn't brought under control immediately, everyone on this train would soon be doomed!

Ling Lan lost her composure; she stood up and prepared to leave.

"Where are you going?" Bai Ge looked up and asked.

"I have to find Ling Zhe." Ling Lan bit her lip, struggling hard to suppress her emotions.

"You can't go alone. Xu Man and Chang Qing should go with you as well. With them around, it will be easier to find someone." Bai Ge made a swift decision.

Ling Zhe had previously informed everyone that he was heading toward the rear when he left. It was very likely he had been caught up in the danger now, so a rescue operation was indeed urgently needed.

"Thank you," Ling Lan said, overwhelmed with gratitude.

"However, you don't have much time. I will advise the conductor to seal the doors of the rear carriages." Bai Ge glanced at her watch. "Ten minutes from now, if you haven't managed to get across or haven't been able to return, I can only say I'm sorry."

Bai Ge always looked at problems from the bigger picture. In the vast majority of situations, she could maintain a calm mind.

"I understand." Ling Lan had no objections. As a doctor, saving lives and healing the wounded was her calling, and she did not want to sacrifice the lives of an entire train of people for the sake of her younger brother.

"Everyone else, go and guard the carriage where Yi Chen and the others are, just in case," Bai Ge said.

Yi Chen was unconscious, and Cheng Xianglong was heavily injured... With problems piling up, they had to prepare for the worst.

Everyone nodded and split up to take action. Bai Ge lowered her gaze to look at her watch.

It had only been about an hour since departure, and they had just barely cleared Nanchuan. Stop the train? I'm afraid that wasn't an option.

She looked out the window. The black rain was still drizzling down. The sky was a gloomy, lifeless gray.

There was no shelter here. Even if they stopped the train, people couldn't run down; they still had to stay aboard, which would actually be worse than pressing forward.

The only way out was to ask for rescue... Of course, the target for that request would have to be Xijing.

Nanchuan was currently in complete chaos and unable to even protect itself, not to mention that the middle and upper management of the Future Corporation had almost entirely evacuated; absolutely no one would come to their rescue.

There were no other bases along this route; their only option was to ask for help from their destination ahead, Xijing.

However, even if Xijing agreed, it would take time for them to arrive. She had to figure out a way to endure until then...

Bai Ge sighed, her head throbbing with a headache.

The abilities of infected individuals like Xu Man and Chang Qing could be used for both offense and defense, and they might prove useful. However, in such a narrow, enclosed iron space, it was difficult to control their power.

If the train structure were damaged and the black rain outside splashed in, it would still infect the crowd, and they themselves would be in danger. It was truly a difficult dilemma.

Watching the minute hand tick over to a new digit, no news came back.

Bai Ge gave a bitter smile. Perhaps she was being too harsh, giving Ling Lan and the others only ten minutes.

Completing a mission in ten minutes seemed almost impossible. But every second was precious now! During this time, hundreds of people might already have been infected, and the wave of the virus might have spread to several more carriages. This was the absolute maximum concession she could make from the perspective of the overall situation.

Bai Ge stopped waiting and established contact with the conductor.

Understanding the grave situation on the train, the conductor quickly issued instructions.

The train attendants soon sealed the doors of the final seven or eight carriages and had the guards block the way, standing ready for action while the crowd on the other side pounded, wept, and cursed.

Although doing this meant sacrificing the thousands of people in the rear, it was far better than the entire train falling!

They absolutely could not let a single zombie or virus carrier break through this defense and become a fish that slipped through the net!

The trapped crowd grew angry; no one wanted to sit idly and wait for death. They began destroying the train doors, and the fragile windows were smashed in God knows when. The scene quickly descended into utter disorder!

Such actions were tantamount to courting death.

The black rain, accompanied by a fishy wind, drifted in through the broken windows, accelerating the tragedy.

Soon, someone collapsed, transformed, and lunged at the normal people beside them!

Amidst wave after wave of terrified screams, the newly born zombies began their first round of hunting!

Just a few minutes ago, this train had been an ark carrying people's hopes; now, it had transformed into a death-bound transport hurtling down the road to doom!
