Chapter Fifty-Nine: The Slaying of Lu Ling
“Who did you say is going to die?”
As the voice fell, another object shot through the firelight—not the ink-blue long sword aimed at the forefront, but something that suddenly stood before Angel, completely shielding her!
“Bang!”
“A shield?” Tuoba Lin’s face darkened as he stared at the angular shield before him, his tone grim. “Who?”
“The one who will kill you!” A voice filled with murderous intent rang out from the other side of the blaze, and a young figure burst forth, arriving beside Angel and Nangong Kexin.
The youth stood tall and unyielding. Beneath his tousled black hair was a young, handsome face, and in the crimson glow of the fire, his deep eyes shone brightly with rage and deadly intent.
“Nangong Yuchen!”
Once Tuoba Lin and the others clearly recognized him, they were stunned. “How could you have arrived so quickly?”
They recalled that just over an hour ago, Nangong Yuchen had only just entered the forest. Now, suddenly standing before them, panic gripped their hearts.
“Nangong Yuchen!”
“Yuchen!”
Angel and Nangong Kexin, however, reacted quite differently. Angel smiled faintly, her tense expression easing, while Kexin’s voice trembled with tears, thick with grievance.
“Sorry, Kexin. I’m late!” Nangong Yuchen turned to look at the two women, battered and bruised, his face full of regret. Then, once again, he faced Tuoba Lin, Lu Ling, and the others, his tone cold: “From now on, leave them all to me!”
Recalling how, on the way here, he had discovered Tuoba Lin and the others’ shameless deeds through his map device, his fury soared. Not only had his sister Kexin been relentlessly pursued by her brother Tuoba Feng, but now the four of them had surrounded her, inflicting injuries on both Angel and Kexin.
He could no longer tolerate this!
Seething, he strode forward, drawing the triangular shield and the Thunder Sword Curtain, and charged at them!
“Hmph, so you’ve come. What of it? Are the four of us afraid of you?” Tuoba Lin sneered, wary but not scared, glaring at the rushing Nangong Yuchen. “Come with me! Let’s take them down together!”
“Is that so?” Nangong Yuchen smirked coldly, raising his shield and smashing it fiercely into Tuoba Lin’s.
“Bang!”
Their shields clashed with equal force—both exerting 450 kilograms of pressure—neither gaining the upper hand. But in the next moment, Nangong Yuchen’s speed exploded; he flipped and leapt atop Tuoba Feng’s head, his right hand wielding the Thunder Sword Curtain, slashing toward his skull!
“Not a chance!”
Ink-Blue stepped forward, first blocking the attack with a sword stroke to aid Tuoba Lin, then twisting her blade to strike at Nangong Yuchen’s waist!
“Bang!”
Nangong Yuchen quickly kicked Tuoba Lin’s shield, sending it flying. Using the recoil, he created distance and jumped back.
At that moment, Liu Ze, who had retreated to the side, suddenly brandished a black machine gun, aiming at Nangong Yuchen as he landed, pulling the trigger.
“Rat-a-tat-tat…”
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Nangong Yuchen hastily raised his shield to block the bullets, deflecting them all.
“Heh, what can your three skills do? You still can’t withstand our combined attack!”
Tuoba Lin grinned fiercely, shield in his left hand and a powerful fist in his right, striking at the exhausted Nangong Yuchen.
Ink-Blue followed swiftly, her speed boosted by her battle boots, her body becoming a blur as she circled behind Nangong Yuchen to attack.
“Clang clang!”
Caught in the onslaught of three, Nangong Yuchen held his ground, neither faltering nor managing to injure any of them temporarily.
Meanwhile, the wounded Lu Ling stood back, watching the chaotic fight with a sudden grin, his gaze fixed on the injured Angel and Nangong Kexin.
Pulling out his own mech, he swiftly approached.
As a classmate, he knew well Nangong Yuchen’s greatest weakness—Nangong Kexin!
“Tap, tap!”
Nangong Kexin, shouting from the sidelines as she watched, saw Lu Ling dragging his giant hammer closer and panicked. “Lu Ling, what do you think you’re doing?!”
“Haha… What do you think?” Lu Ling sneered disdainfully at her childish question, then split his lips into a savage grin. “Of course, I want Nangong Yuchen to watch with his own eyes how I kill you! Heh heh…”
With that, he suddenly accelerated, raising the Earthbreaker Hammer as he closed in on the two women.
“Danger! Angel, run!” Seeing him charge, Nangong Kexin grabbed Angel, helping her dodge to the side.
But the two were too slow, both heavily injured, unable to outrun Lu Ling. Within two breaths, he caught up, swinging the hammer first at the more seriously wounded Angel.
Their eyes met—Angel’s wide, gem-like eyes—and a wave of fury surged through Lu Ling’s heart, recalling how, back in class, Angel had leveraged her superior talent and the teacher’s trust to suppress and target him.
“Hmph, my class leader, you might as well die!”
Lu Ling’s face twisted into a grimace. He had longed for this moment, and now, with the chance for revenge, he was overjoyed inside.
“Angel!”
At the critical moment, Nangong Kexin yanked Angel away and painfully drew her Piercing Silver Dragon Spear, holding it horizontally in both hands to block the descending hammer.
“Bang!”
The instant the giant hammer slammed down, Nangong Kexin screamed in agony. The spear flew from her hands, and she was sent flying!
“Ah!”
“Nangong Kexin!” Angel’s face paled as she called out anxiously.
“Hmph, since you’re looking for death, I’ll deal with you first!” Lu Ling raised the Earthbreaker Hammer again, grinning cruelly. “Haha, Nangong Yuchen, I’ll send your sister out first!”
Nearby, in the thick of the battle, Nangong Yuchen suddenly turned, seeing Lu Ling raise his hammer toward Kexin, his fury boiling over!
With his right hand wielding the Thunder Sword Curtain, he swept sideways, forcing the three attackers to stagger back slightly, then leapt into the air, retracting his sword.
Twisting, breaking, dispersing!
As purple crystal fragments surged inward, black crystals spread outward.
Condensing, entwining, forming! The S-M82A1-75—Artillery-Style Sniper!
“Get lost!”
With that shout, he aimed the rifle straight down at the stunned trio and pulled the trigger.
“Damn! Madman!” Tuoba Lin and the others never expected him to conceal such a deadly mech, nor to fight so recklessly!
“Boom!” A massive explosion rocketed through the air, blasting all four enemies away. Nangong Yuchen raised his shield just in time to absorb the blast, sustaining only minor injuries.
Ignoring the blood dripping from his forehead and the numbness in his arms, he landed and sprang up again, charging at Lu Ling with renewed ferocity, storing away the artillery sniper and drawing the Thunder Sword Curtain.
Yet Lu Ling was already beside Nangong Kexin, swinging his giant hammer down heavily.
“Ah! Lu Ling, you’re courting death!”
Watching his sister on the brink of defeat, Nangong Yuchen pushed his speed to the limit. But even so, it would take over a second to reach her—and in that brief moment, Nangong Kexin’s life could be lost.
“Fifty meters… forty meters… twenty meters!”
Lu Ling’s hammer was nearly touching Nangong Kexin’s forehead.
Nangong Yuchen’s heart chilled; he would disappoint Kexin once again!
At that instant, Angel’s pupils shifted, a faint purple glow flickering briefly in the pitch-black night before returning to normal.
“Pfft!”
In the next moment, Nangong Yuchen charged forward, sword in hand, the blade piercing straight through Lu Ling’s chest!
Lu Ling’s eyes widened in shock as he crashed to the ground, eliminated just like that. He had no idea what had happened in those final moments to make his hammer stop…
