Chapter 130: The Spending Must Not Stop!
The Demonic Secret Realm.
After the gate of light closed, it completely cut off every trace of aura.
Luo Yong sighed inwardly and immediately summoned the Holy Light Guardian.
“Holy Light Domain!”
A radius of ten meters was enveloped in holy light. Though the area was small, it was safe.
The moment Empress Boa entered, she transformed directly into a figurine and landed on Luo Yong’s shoulder. She disliked the aura here.
Luo Yong disliked it too, but there was nothing he could do.
“Summon melee mages!”
With a loud shout, Luo Yong saw magical beasts surging toward them from every direction.
The camp and fortress they had built nearby had all been destroyed.
At this rate, there was no way to explore this place and grind levels for any length of time.
This was an extraordinarily unusual secret realm in its own right. Who knew what kind of luck one needed even to encounter it?
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
With his summons, streaks of light flashed one after another. A group of half-human, half-serpent creatures began moving through the Holy Light Domain. Their upper bodies were human—and all of them took the form of beautiful women.
The moment they appeared, they automatically locked onto the magical beasts surrounding them. Opening their mouths, they spat out streams of pitch-black energy. The beams shot toward the beasts and struck their bodies, whereupon—
“Petrification?”
Luo Yong cried out in surprise.
The beasts that had been hit gradually turned pitch-black from head to toe, freezing in place and maintaining their previous postures without the slightest movement.
The petrifying effect spread bit by bit from the point of impact to the rest of the body, eventually covering it completely.
Compared with Empress Boa’s petrification spell, which killed its victims the instant it struck, this was far inferior. It was also limited to a single target.
“Don’t you have anything more powerful...?”
As Luo Yong watched more and more of these “Snake Maidens” appear around him, he thought that they truly suited the Empress. No wonder they had been items she had won back.
But they still lacked the sort of thing he wanted—
Boom!
A tremendous explosion rang out.
A humanoid mana-powered battle puppet appeared. It too had the form of a young woman. Though she was not particularly tall, she carried a gigantic cannon barrel on her shoulder.
Unlike the “Little Girl Destroyer” he had seen before, this item was somewhat taller, with a fully grown figure and normal proportions.
Moreover, there was no heavy box connected to the rear of the cannon. It was the kind that charged directly.
“Oh-ho!”
Luo Yong was somewhat astonished.
That single shell not only blasted several magical beasts into the air, but also shattered all the frozen beasts within the explosion’s radius. A vast, charred crater appeared in the ground.
At long last, the Demonic Secret Realm began to exude the atmosphere of war.
After the mana-powered battle puppet appeared, the summons that followed were all giant-cannon mages of the same type, gradually filling the Holy Light Domain.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Explode! Explode! Explode!
Smoke billowed in every direction, and flames of war raged across the field.
Luo Yong recalled the Snake Maidens, who had been ceaselessly spewing beams of death, and summoned the Gatling Big Sisters instead.
“Cannons and Gatlings make the perfect pair!”
Luo Yong chuckled and began adjusting the distribution of firepower.
At the same time, he summoned Dodo and had her set up several simple raised platforms to mount the cannons and Gatling guns.
He arranged them in successive tiers, using segmented interception tactics to prolong the battle.
The longer Luo Yong remained in the Demonic Secret Realm, the faster his experience bar increased.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Rat-a-tat-tat...
There were somewhat fewer Gatling Big Sisters, but once their web of fire was interwoven, they were still practically invincible.
No flying magical beasts had appeared in the secret realm for the time being, so at this stage, they were more than sufficient.
With the Holy Light Domain at its center, everything within a hundred yards became a forbidden zone. Any creature that crossed the boundary was blasted into ashes!
Even the roars of the magical beasts were drowned out by the deafening cannon fire.
Finally, Luo Yong summoned the magical girls as well, sending out intermittent waves of Annihilation Light to illuminate the Demonic Secret Realm.
The battlefield before him was scoured again and again...
After exhausting every trick he could think of, Luo Yong finally managed to endure nearly an entire day there.
Countless magical beasts were blasted to death. Their mangled corpses piled up like hills, while their pitch-black blood flowed together into rivers.
Luo Yong watched it all with an utterly emotionless expression. Before the Holy Light Domain collapsed, he recalled all his items and left the place.
When his figure appeared within the Stonehenge formation, he immediately saw a group of guards moving the people who had been turned into stone statues.
The Heroes Association or the Mages’ Guild must have intervened. They were investigating what had happened earlier.
Just then, he saw someone walking toward him.
Farther away, a group of people had gathered together, pointing in his direction and muttering among themselves.
“Next time, I’m absolutely bringing that fellow Pang Ding along. Let him draw the fire...”
Tsk, tsk.
Who knew where that fat bastard had gone off to have fun by now?
To Luo Yong, Pang Ding was essentially a professional wingman whose sole purpose was to attract fire.
With him around, everyone’s attention would be drawn to his... short, round, ball-like figure.
Besides, he was a well-known figure on the rankings.
With him blocking the way in front, even if he could not necessarily withstand the attacks, he could still reduce a great deal of unnecessary trouble.
After all, Luo Yong currently had no identity and could not submit to any investigation or questioning.
The average strength near the camp was nothing special, and there were no particularly formidable figures around.
Even so, Luo Yong did not dare underestimate the mercenaries of the Heroes Association and the Mages’ Guild.
For instance, there had once been an ordinary mercenary who could open a door out of thin air and enter and leave the Magic Shop as though no one were there.
Who could have imagined that such an inconspicuous mercenary possessed that kind of ability?
At the time, Luo Yong had secretly wondered what would happen if that person’s spear were to slash across someone’s body.
Spatial power applied directly to a person...
Ahem.
While the protective barrier around Stonehenge was still active, Luo Yong quickly prepared a teleportation scroll.
Then, once the protective barrier vanished, he stepped out of the teleportation array just as the few mercenaries were approaching.
“We are from the Mercenary Guild—”
One of the mercenaries spoke first, stopping not far from Luo Yong. But Luo Yong did not give him the chance to finish.
He immediately activated the scroll in his hand, opened a portal, and slipped inside.
“Stop!”
“Quick, catch him!”
The mercenaries’ shouts drifted through the gate of light behind him.
Luo Yong turned to look, smiled faintly, and walked away into the distance.
Behind him, the portal glowed. Strange patterns appeared, sealing the entrance, and it had already begun to destroy itself.
This was a one-way portal Luo Yong had obtained from Pang Ding.
It could transport only one person at a time.
All traces were erased, and under normal circumstances, there was no way to track him through it.
Sunset Town.
Luo Yong had come here for the third time.
The long street was even quieter than before. It seemed that overnight, the place had become utterly dilapidated.
No one in the town knew where the residents had gone.
That damn fat man was nowhere to be seen either.
Luo Yong entered Nazdak’s Shop and saw that the shop assistant seemed to have been replaced yet again.
Tsk, tsk.
After taking a casual look around, Luo Yong went straight to Ancient Devour and began grinding for items once more.
This time, however, he had to keep grinding for quite a while before the drop rate finally rose. He wondered what unlucky bastard had lowered the odds to such an outrageous degree.
“Gold card, gold card, silver card...”
Just as Luo Yong reached for more gemstones, he suddenly discovered that he had used up every gemstone in his storage space.
Even if he kept choosing Bull Devour, Ancient Devour was still a bottomless abyss.
He then grabbed the Miser Spider and poured out some... black crystals from it.
They resembled mana crystals. The largest were about the size of a fist, while the smallest were no bigger than a fingernail.
“Do you accept these?” Luo Yong asked, shaking the mana crystals in his hand as he looked at the shop assistant behind the counter.
“We do!”
The shop assistant studied the crystals and nodded readily.
“Good.”
Luo Yong nodded and continued advancing into Bull Devour. To his surprise, a single mana crystal was enough to press the button several times.
“Gold card! Gold card! Gold card!”
“Drop!”
At last, Luo Yong managed to raise Ancient Devour’s odds once again.
As he continued spending money, golden orbs of light appeared one after another.
Luo Yong instinctively reached out to touch them, but immediately thought of his companions, who were still easily bullied at their current level.
If he was not careful, some heartless bastard might abduct Sally again.
The big sisters he himself had not even been willing to lay a hand on could be mistreated by people with ulterior motives...
How the hell was that acceptable?!
Were the members of his Gale Squad really so easy to bully?
With that thought, Luo Yong waved to the shop assistant and motioned for him to come over and collect the golden orbs of light.
Once he had gotten his fill of the thrill of drawing prizes... Ahem, once he had spent enough to obtain all the items he wanted, he would pay to buy every single item he had drawn!
“Damn those ancient treaties!”
“Those tyrannical terms should be abolished!”
“Everyone who drafted them ought to be hanged!”
As Luo Yong pressed the draw button, he cursed them under his breath, not caring whether anyone else heard him.
“Sir, the amount you currently need to pay is...”
Every so often, the shop assistant would patiently repeat the reminder, informing Luo Yong how much it would cost at that moment to obtain all the magical items that had dropped.
As time passed, the number of golden orbs increased, and the figures quoted by the shop assistant became more and more staggering.
After a while, Luo Yong finally stopped and watched without emotion as the shop assistant collected all the golden orbs.
“How many?”
“Esteemed mercenary sir, you drew a total of 352 golden orbs, one silver orb, and one bronze orb.” The shop assistant looked at the ledger, carefully counted them, and said solemnly, “If you choose to pay with golden orbs, then once you reach a certain amount, the silver and bronze orbs can be given to you free of charge.”
“I want to take everything. How much will it cost?” Luo Yong asked indifferently.
“Uh... What? You... You can’t seriously be joking, can you? These items are already extremely expensive...”
“Just tell me how much.”
Luo Yong turned the Miser Spider upside down and began pouring out its contents with a clatter.
In the blink of an eye, pitch-black magical-beast crystals covered the floor.
