This battle was destined to make the City Z government the greatest victim. The site had originally been intended for a public cemetery in City Z, a small matter in itself. But after that ominous star, Heaven’s Fiend, was unearthed, a bizarre struggle among awakened beings erupted here, and part of the buildings and facilities was destroyed.

Liu Chuanmin and Wang Fugui felt as though their hearts were bleeding. Watching those facilities being ruined, as the men in charge and the officials responsible, the agony twisting in their chests was almost unbearable.

“Hmm, not bad. You’re quite a beauty after all. Ah... looking at you, I almost can’t bear to lay a hand on you. Tell me, should I pity the fair, or should I let a flower wither before it blooms?”

As I spoke, a pale golden force formed in my hand, condensing into a floating flame that I toyed with, teasing the Heaven’s Fiend woman ten meters away.

That woman was no soft target either. She put both hands on her slender waist and looked at me with a mischievous smile. I had never expected that a fierce deity who had lived for tens of thousands of years could be so adorable; it made it hard for me to even bring myself to strike.

“You little brat, you’re looking down on your aunt’s strength far too much. Come on, stick that rear up and let me slap it once!”

As she spoke, she formed a hand seal, and a massive dark violet palm appeared above my head in an instant.

Gods really were extraordinary. Any stray energy in the world could be manipulated by them without effort. If I had been an ordinary man, that single slap would probably have sent me straight to hell, and I might have been sent there before my soul even had time to leave my body.

Seeing the enormous palm overhead, I dared not be careless. I flooded both arms with power, clenched my fist, and met it head-on. The instant my fist touched that giant hand, I understood a simple truth: a mantis trying to block a chariot was hopelessly overestimating itself.

This was hundreds of meters in the air. Even a pilot without a parachute would never dare jump. If he did, I’d give him a hundred million. Of course, I didn’t have that much money at the moment. Worst case, I’d rob a bank.

At that moment, I lost my balance in midair, and with that enormous palm pressing down from above, my body shot straight toward the earth below. The giant hand followed close behind.

“Hah. You arrogant little whelp, don’t you know your grandma here is a goddess from the heavens? With that pathetic little bit of strength, you still dare resist a divine being. Believe me, I can make sure you die with your eyes wide open.”

The Heaven’s Fiend woman’s haughty voice drifted through the air, and as I plummeted, I sneered at her from the bottom of my heart: Damn it, this woman really is vicious. That slap must weigh at least five thousand jin. If it landed on an ordinary person, the odds of survival would be less than one in ten million.

Slowly turning to look downward, I had thought I would land on soft yellow earth below. But one glance was enough to make my scalp tingle. Damn it, the ground beneath me was nothing but concrete slabs, all of them poured in cement. This was going to be miserable.

Inside the tent, Liu Chuanmin and the others watched as I was driven down by that giant palm, my body dropping straight as a plumb line. Their hearts immediately tightened. If I died again, they would probably really be finished too.

Only Wang Fugui stared blankly at the pile of slabs below, saying in a tearful voice, “Oh my god... the slabs! The slabs worth tens of thousands each are ruined!”

If I had heard Wang Fugui say that at that moment, I would have torn him into eight pieces and thrown him in front of the Heaven’s Fiend woman.

Here I was fighting with my life on the line, and that bastard was still worried about his few rotten slabs for the cemetery project.

The fierce wind of the fall scraped my face raw. With a thunderous boom, that giant palm smashed me several meters into the earth. Broken fragments of concrete slabs flew in all directions, and a thick cloud of smoke rose into the night, obscuring everything from view.

Damn it, had I been sent to hell? Everything around me was pitch-black. I couldn’t see a thing, and the air was thick with the smell of damp earth.

From the outside, it looked like a human-shaped crater, with coughing sounds coming intermittently from within.

Once I confirmed that this wasn’t hell, I braced my hand and tried to climb up. Damn it, even standing up I still couldn’t see outside. Looks like that Heaven’s Fiend woman’s palm was no joke.

By then, the smoke and dust outside had dispersed. A streak of light shot out from the human-shaped pit at lightning speed, then swung that pale golden fist brutally toward the Heaven’s Fiend woman in the sky, with not the slightest hint of mercy for beauty.

“Damn you, you filthy bitch. You used too much force. Go to hell!”

As soon as I finished speaking, the fist left my hand in the form of energy and shot straight toward the woman’s chest.

A fierce gale whipped her ancient robes so they snapped and fluttered. The Heaven’s Fiend woman did not dare take it head-on. She retreated several steps in midair, then drew a star pattern before her chest.

The moment the star pattern appeared, the surrounding energy converged rapidly toward it, as if trying to drain this entire stretch of space dry.

Watching that pattern take shape, both my senses and my instincts told me it was absolutely not merely for defense.

What caught my attention was not the star pattern itself, but a realization about the fiend before me. So the so-called gods were nothing more than powerful awakened beings. The only difference was the scale of their control over the energy of heaven and earth.

My fist, infused with the power of the curse upon the wings behind me, met the star pattern of that fierce Heaven’s Fiend woman in the next bewildered instant.

Everyone in the tent was peering through the gaps, secretly watching this free, real-life battle spectacle. Not charging them money for it was truly my loss.

When the pale golden fist, carrying the force of the curse, slammed into the star pattern, it unleashed a thunderous roar from ancient times, sounding like a spell chanted by a wizard.

Crackle!

As the fist formed from gathered power collided with the Heaven’s Fiend star pattern, countless tiny lightning arrays spilled out from the dark violet star formation in the sky, falling downward. Wherever they landed, the earth turned into scorched black wasteland.

Yet after several bolts had struck the ground, every last one was absorbed by the pale golden Sanskrit curse behind me. I could feel a strand of pure lightning energy newly added to my body.

“I never expected you to be the one-in-a-million Golden Corpse King. No wonder you possess the power of ancient curses.”

The Heaven’s Fiend woman above me now wore an expression of utter disbelief.

But that was not the main point. What mattered was that my pale golden fist and her dark violet star pattern were still clashing.

It was hard to believe that the force of my strike could actually contend with a god. And then, at last, my pale golden fist broke through the defense of her star pattern and struck her chest.

The Heaven’s Fiend woman clutched her chest and staggered back more than ten meters, spitting out a mouthful of dark violet divine blood. Unexpectedly, her defense was so formidable that this blow still failed to send her crashing all the way to the ground.

“Cough, cough... Kid, you’re ruthless. We’ll settle this account another day!”

After saying that, she coughed a few times and then turned into a streak of light, flying toward the heavens.

Below, the crowd saw that I had driven off the fierce deity so easily, and one after another they came out shouting and cheering at me as I stood in the sky.

At that moment, I witnessed a miracle: the woman inside the coffin was slowly weathering away in the wind.

Later, I heard from Brother Mao: “That stunning corpse was only a smokescreen. It was useless. Now that the fierce deity has been driven off, a body buried for thousands of years will naturally be eroded and disintegrate.”
