Indeed, what Lian Yu saw was the Grim Reaper—the formidable war commander serving beneath the mighty Caesar, lord of the Western Hell.

At this moment, time and space seemed to stand still. Around a hundred grim reapers appeared on the field, all clad in black robes that shrouded their skeletal frames. Their bony hands clutched death scythes taller than any man, emitting a sinister dark sheen.

Unlike the reapers I had previously encountered on Mount Kunlun, these were not of flesh and blood. I later learned from Uncle Mao that this was the elite, bloodthirsty unit commanded by Satan, Caesar's trusted lieutenant. Though these reapers were not corporeal, they were not to be underestimated.

This blood legion was countless, a ceaseless flow like a spring: whenever someone died in the Western world, a new reaper appeared here, accumulating over millennia.

Legend tells of the great battle between Eastern and Western underworlds tens of thousands of years ago. In that war, this blood legion fulfilled the most Western missions. Though ultimately defeated by the Eastern army of underworld soldiers, both sides suffered heavy losses—the East could only claim a pyrrhic victory.

The dispatched reapers numbered about one hundred, each wearing hooded black robes, expressionless, holding their glowing black scythes as they gazed coldly at the vast black cloud covering miles of sky.

Everyone inside the tent trembled, witnessing the most terrifying sight in their history—the closest they had ever come to death.

Even Wang Fugui, a staunch atheist, stood agape. He could not have imagined that the entities of ghost stories truly existed in another realm, perhaps from beneath the earth.

As all eyes were fixed on the thunder-laden cloud above, the reapers below emanated a fierce will to fight, raising their scythes in readiness for battle.

“Hahaha, hahahaha! Young ones, countless ages have passed, all returns to emptiness. With your strength, you wish to battle gods? Such arrogance!”

The speaker was the black cloud, slowly taking human form in the sky. The cloud shrank and finally revealed a stunning woman whose fair skin and regal bearing were worlds apart from the ominous darkness she emerged from.

No one answered her. She laughed wildly, leaving no room for others to speak—a most uncivilized goddess, yet she shamelessly claimed divinity.

Meanwhile, I was attending class at the academy, when a sudden gust swept through, scattering students’ books across the floor. Amidst the wind, I sensed a mysterious danger originating from the recently developed public cemetery in the southeast.

Hurriedly filing an early leave, I tossed my books into the dorm and rushed outside. Perhaps I have made it my duty to rid the world of evil; whenever I sense danger to others, I cannot help but intervene.

The southeast still thundered and flashed, each bolt of lightning striking ten meters above the ground before vanishing.

On the earth, a hundred reapers wielding their scythes awaited battle, truly worthy of their status as the death warriors under Satan, Caesar’s Western Hell lieutenant.

“Heh, I didn’t expect to find ancient Western races here, and the scent of Satan as well. If I’m not mistaken, this must be Satan’s blood legion—how intriguing. Come, youngsters, let the mighty Doom Star witness your strength!”

With these words, the woman in the sky dove from a hundred meters high, friction enveloping her in a fiery red blaze. Her floral dress remained untouched by the flames.

“Boom!”

The hellish shield shattered under her strike. The hundred reapers within flew up, scythes raised, charging fearlessly at the Doom Star.

Each reaper held a scythe twice their own height. I wondered how they managed to wield such weapons, yet the sky was now crowded with reapers brandishing scythes.

The clanging of weapons mingled with the thunder, while lightning from above struck the reapers, causing black smoke to billow from their bodies. Yet the reapers seemed unaffected, pressing their attack.

Since lightning was useless against these incorporeal reapers, the Doom Star rolled up her sleeves and fought hand-to-hand. Her snow-white, slender wrists sent one or two reapers plummeting from the sky with each swing, dissolving into dust and scattering with the wind.

Who would have thought such ferocity could dwell within a seemingly delicate woman? She was truly worthy of her reputation as one of the three hundred sixty-two ominous stars of the divine realm—Doom Star. Her very name suggests her formidable power.

“Hmph, foolish minions! If you Western Hell creatures dare challenge the divine beings of the East, you are courting your own destruction. Be gone!”

Her piercing voice tore through the air, shaking the eardrums of those below. This seemingly gentle beauty possessed truly terrifying strength.

With her command, “Be gone!” strands of dark, tangible energy hurled from her back, binding more than thirty reapers closest to her.

These thirty were immobilized, their scythes shattered by the black energy.

Deprived of weapons, the reapers were like puppets, swaying helplessly in the air and forcing their companions to retreat twenty meters.

The remaining reapers watched as their comrades were humiliated, yet could not step forward.

Then, a soul fire ignited from deep within, doubling their strength instantly. Their bony mouths emitted a “kaka-kaka!” sound, signaling a battle to the death.

“Heh, you think burning your soul for borrowed strength will let you rival Eastern gods? You underestimate me, Doom Star! Taste my new treasure—Fiendish Aura from the East!”

“Bang!”

“Bang!”

...

Thirty reapers were crushed to white ash by Doom Star and drifted down from the sky. Now only forty or so remained, their eyes flickering with faint flames, locked in a stand-off with Doom Star—a battle that would end only with death.
