Chapter 150: Pharaoh Menkaure

Like the other mummies, this mummy of unknown identity had a withered, wood-like skeleton beneath its attire of pure gold, wrapped in blackened, sickening strips of cloth.
"Hmph, if you aren't convinced, let's fight! We're taking the journal anyway, take this!"
With that, Ale waved his arm, ablaze with orange psychic energy, and fiercely smashed it toward the mummy!
Combining this with the innate speed of the Corpse-Demon clan, everything seemed utterly flawless. It looked as though only a streak of orange light flashed before the eyes, and Ale was already beside the leader of the mummies, enveloped in a cloud of churning dust.
"Heh, you overestimate yourselves. Do you know that more than a thousand years ago, when I, Menkaure, was resurrected, I once fought against Xu Fu, the first-generation Eastern Corpse-Demon King? The battle ended in a draw for both sides. Now, facing you second-generation corpse-demons, why don't you surrender?!"
As Menkaure finished speaking, the swirling smoke gradually dissipated, revealing the figures of Ale and Menkaure. Ale's fist was effortlessly caught and enclosed within Menkaure's palm.
Seeing this situation, Ismael also made his move. Instantly, the psychic energy elements around Ismael's body began to gather on his fists.
Two humanoid figures of light fought alongside Menkaure, every strike carrying the force of a thousand jun. Yet they lasted less than half an hour before being beaten back repeatedly by Menkaure.
Following each repelling impact, the two of them slammed so hard that they became deeply embedded in the yellow giant sandstone. If this had happened to an ordinary person, I reckon they would have died a hundred and eighty times over.
Speaking of which, I was suddenly reminded of a piece of Egyptian history. During the reign of Khafre's son, Menkaure, the Fourth Dynasty began to decline. Even by exhausting the entire nation's resources, it was difficult to sustain the consumption of building the pyramids.
Consequently, the Pyramid of Menkaure had to be reduced in scale, standing at a mere 65 meters tall with a base side length of 104 meters, built around 2600 BC. Yet now, Menkaure had appeared in this mysterious underground palace tomb. I could only think of two possible explanations.
First, we had somehow inexplicably wandered into the interior of Menkaure's pyramid while underground. After all, we didn't have a map of the palace, so this possibility was quite high.
Second, the remains of Pharaoh Menkaure were never placed inside the Pyramid of Menkaure at all, but were instead secretly interred in this terrifying underground palace.
"Puff!"

"Puff!"
Ale and Ismael were beaten back once again, dropping to one knee with lowered heads as each spat out a mouthful of black blood.
"What's going on? Can second-generation corpse-demons vomit blood? That's completely impossible. Could it be that their origin blood within their bodies was forced out? Wouldn't that mean Ale and Ismael have suffered severe injuries?!" After thinking this to myself, I watched as Menkaure slowly closed in on them.
"Go to hell!"
Menkaure roared as it advanced. Although its face was a skull devoid of any facial expressions, the fiery psychic energy it condensed made it crystal clear that it wanted both of their lives.
"Hooray, hooray, hooray, hooray!"
Wherever Menkaure passed, its subordinates raised their weapons and cheered. Although the clattering jaws of the skulls could produce no distinct voice, the meaning of "hooray" was clearly conveyed by their actions. It was evident that these pitch-black mummies must be Menkaure's trusted confidants or loyal followers.
"For anyone who disturbs the Pharaoh's peace, the wings of the God of Death shall descend upon their head!"
"Whoosh, crackle crackle crackle!"
Menkaure kept muttering that incantation under its breath. Its fist, wrapped in fiery red psychic energy elements, produced bursts of piercing sonic booms as it swung toward Ale and Ismael!
"Stop right there!"
"Xiaodong, come back quickly!"
I don't know where I suddenly found the strength; even Uncle Ma failed to hold me back. I grabbed the hand that was a mere five centimeters away from the top of Ale and Ismael's heads, and with a swift kick, sent Ale and Ismael flying backward, where several psychic-powered individuals caught them together!
"Who are you?!"

Clearly, Menkaure was startled by my action. The fact that I could catch its hand with a single bare hand indicated that our strengths were likely on par.
"Listen up, kid, I am your Grandpa Dong!"
No sooner had I finished speaking than I lashed out with a ferocious kick to Menkaure's chest, knocking it back several meters in an instant.
"What the hell, you dare kick me? I'm really losing my temper!" Menkaure said, clutching its chest and glaring at me with fury.
Good grief, this piece of dried jerky actually cursed at me! Holy crap, claiming to be a pharaoh and yet lacking any basic morals—no wonder it died with eternal regret!
"Xiaodong, don't hurt it! It's a cultural relic over two thousand years old!"
I liked what Uncle Ma said. It was indeed a cultural relic, but Menkaure heard it in an entirely different way!
So furious was it that its entire body became enveloped in fiery red psychic energy, and it assumed a combat stance.
Seeing this array, I too grew solemn. Having finally found an opponent of the same tier, I naturally wanted to spar properly with him. Therefore, I instantly transformed into my combat form, bracing myself for the battle.
