Chapter 142: The Heavenly Court's Four-Man Security Team
"Terrible! Divine generals have descended from the heavens, undoubtedly to execute you. Xiaodong, you must leave the country immediately. I've already arranged your passport and plane tickets. Head to Egypt first, and we will come to find you in a couple of days!"
As soon as Uncle Ma finished speaking, he handed me a large suitcase, escorted me downstairs, and hailed a taxi. After giving the driver the destination, the cab sped straight toward the City Z International Airport.
I felt that Uncle Ma's large suitcase was more than enough, considering all my belongings were already at home. I kept only a Bank of China card with a balance of one hundred thousand yuan, while giving everything else to my mother. That one hundred thousand was transferred from the six hundred thousand my aunt had given me.
The car drove at a blistering speed, delivering me to the City Z International Airport in less than half an hour. I happened to catch the flight to Egypt that was about to depart. Hurriedly boarding the plane with my ticket, I handed my luggage over to a young and beautiful flight attendant to handle.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard flight XX of China Airlines, traveling from City Z, China, to Cairo International Airport, the capital of Egypt. To ensure the proper functioning of the aircraft's navigation and communication systems, please refrain from using portable computers during takeoff and landing. Throughout the entire journey, please do not use mobile phones, remote-controlled toys, electronic game consoles, compact disc players, audio receivers, or other electronic devices. The plane is about to take off. The cabin crew will now conduct a safety check. Please be seated, fasten your seatbelts, and stow your seatbacks and tray tables. Please ensure that your carry-on items are properly secured in the overhead storage bins or under your seat. This flight is strictly non-smoking; please do not smoke during the flight. On behalf of the one hundred and thirty-two crew members, the purser wishes you a pleasant and attentive service. Thank you!"
The purser's lengthy speech was completely useless to me—it was merely standard pre-flight warning protocol, but it left me burning with impatience. My greatest hope right now was for the plane to take off as quickly as possible, because Uncle Ma had said that once you leave China, you leave the divine domain of the Central Plains!
Finally, after waiting for over half an hour, the engines roared to life, and within ten minutes, the aircraft took to the skies. To be honest, I didn't feel happy just because the plane was airborne, because let's not forget—the sky itself is the realm of the gods.
Meanwhile, floating high above City Z, four divine generals were gathered together, discussing something. The leader appeared to be a man clad entirely in gold, his entire body—including his skin—shining with a golden hue. In his tightly gripped hand was a massive golden sword, around the blade of which coiled a ferocious five-clawed golden dragon.
"Big Brother, you say the Jade Emperor had nothing better to do than send us down to this wretched mortal realm to find the eleventh disciple of the Ancestor of Chen. Is City Z even the right place, and can we trust his words at all?" asked Number Two, clad entirely in purple, addressing the golden-clad leader. The reason this purple-robed figure was called Number Two was because each of the four wore a numerical designation on their bodies: "Heavenly Court Security Team, Number 0001" through "Number 0004"!
What a bunch of absolute eccentrics. Had the Heavenly Court undergone some kind of corporate restructuring to feature a four-member security squad? Just thinking about it was laughable.
"That's right, Big Brother, I heard that the previous Heavenly Court Security Team was completely wiped out on this exact mission, all perishing at the hands of Nie Yun, the tenth disciple of the Ancestor of Chen. Furthermore, Nie Yun slaughtered hundreds of sovereign-level divine masters in the divine domain before leaving completely unscathed. Look at us—mere low-level cultivators sent by the Jade Emperor to be cannon fodder. Is it even worth doing this?" After finishing his sentence, Number Three looked toward the leader just like Number Two had.
Number Three was dressed entirely in green, topped with a conspicuously large green hat. He was slightly plump and dragged a weird, glowing green crystal ball in his hand, inside of which arcs of green lightning crackled.
If I had been present at that moment, I would have laughed so hard my head would fall off. Number Three's outfit was outrageously creative; heaven only knows which deity's textile mill had designed such attire.
"That's right, Big Brother! Second Brother and Third Brother are making complete sense. Even the Jade Emperor himself was once defeated by the Ancestor of Chen—could his disciple possibly be weak? Instead of acting as the Jade Emperor's cannon fodder, we might as well just surrender! Besides, our spiritual essence isn't even that high, it's not worth risking our lives over!" Number Four, dressed entirely in red, threw a timid glance at the other three.
"Damn it, Red Wind! Can we ever have any spine? Can we?!"
As soon as Number Four finished speaking, the other three instantly whipped their heads around and began fiercely berating him in unison!
"Let me tell you something, at the very least we are the Heavenly Court Security Team, the Dog-Beating Quartet, commonly known as reeds swaying in the wind. For the sake of our own interests, I agree..." Golden Wind trailed off for a moment, his small eyes scanning the other three.
"Big Brother, you agree to what?!"
Purple Wind (Number Two), Green Wind (Number Three), and Red Wind (Number Four) all stared at Golden Wind, waiting with solemn expressions for the leader's verdict!
"Surrender!"
"Damn, Big Brother is truly brilliant!"
The moment Golden Wind uttered the word "surrender," the other three blurted out curses almost simultaneously, yet they looked at the sword-wielding Golden Wind with absolute disdain!
I hadn't even shown up yet, and this quartet had already started plotting to defect. This time, they weren't coming to fight me at all—they were coming to surrender, evidently wanting to throw their lot in with me!
It was a pity I wasn't there. If I had been, what a joyous occasion that would have been! It would have been effortless, netting me four divine-cultivation lackies without me even having to lift a finger.
Although I didn't understand the hierarchy of celestial divine ranks, based on my intuition regarding the Four Heavenly Kings, I could tell this definitely wasn't the lowest divine rank in heaven.
By now, an entire afternoon had passed. I figured I had already left the country, though I still had no idea where I currently was!
After all, this was my first time going abroad, and I didn't understand anything. I just watched what others did and copied them. Every time someone caught me glancing at them, we would exchange smiles, and through this gradual process, we grew familiar with one another.
As it happened, they were also heading to Egypt. Noticing that I didn't speak a word of Egyptian, they decided to use the travel time to teach me some basic common sense.
And I have to admit, I felt like I was learning remarkably fast. Perhaps it was due to the corpse-soul within me, which had granted me a hyper-powerful brain. After just a single afternoon of study, I had already picked up many simple Egyptian phrases. I figured that when I faced the native Egyptians now, I wouldn't be completely clueless!
Stop after stop, flight after flight, until I heard: "Dear passengers, this flight will arrive at Cairo International Airport in fifteen minutes. Please fasten your seatbelts, and from now until arrival, please turn off all electronic devices. At the same time, please stow your tray tables and return your seatbacks to the upright position. Thank you!"
"Hoo—we've finally arrived!"
I took a deep breath of fresh air and gazed out the window. What came into view was a brightly colored landscape, resembling a rainbow pleasing to the eye. Among the brilliant array of colors, three particular tones stood out most strikingly: green, gold, and blue.
*(Just passing by—just passing by, still just passing by. [A passing-by poem, written by a predestined person].) I hope all my good friends will support this. Yours truly, Momo.*
