"Whoosh!"

A gust of wind swept by as I leaped from the roof of the last train carriage, clutching Lu Yao’s waist. A flash of golden light erupted from my back, and a pair of massive, four-meter-wide wings unfurled with a powerful beat.

Pale golden incantations swirled around these brown bat-like wings. The spectacle was divine, like a celestial being ascending toward the clouds. Below, the police could only look up and kowtow in worship, calling out that I was a god.

It was late afternoon, and the lingering glow of the setting sun was blindingly brilliant in the high sky. I hovered in the air, watching Lu Yao, who had her eyes closed in my arms. Her delicate, fair face reminded me of A-Shuang; I wondered if she was still angry with me.

"Lu Yao, when you open your eyes and realize all of this is real, I hope you won't be afraid," I whispered softly into her ear. She nodded vigorously, looking so adorable that I felt a sudden urge to kiss her. Then, I told her to open her eyes.

Lu Yao slowly lifted her eyelids. The first thing she saw was me, my massive wings still beating steadily, wreathed in those pale golden runes.

"Wow! Is this a dream? Senior Xiaodong, are you... are you an immortal?"

Contrary to my expectations, Lu Yao wasn't frightened. Instead, she acted like a girl full of wonder, unable to believe that what she saw was reality.

"Everything you see is real, Lu Yao, but I am no god. The gods are far beyond my reach, and perhaps I never will be one. My master is the Ancestor of Demons, and I am a vampiric corpse-demon."

I gazed into her wide eyes, speaking the words I had kept buried for so long. The Ancestor Chen was my master; he had forbidden me from telling anyone of our bond, yet here I was, revealing it to a mortal—a decision that would later lead to me being hunted by the Heavenly Realm.

At that very moment, a detail I had overlooked came to pass: my words had been overheard and reported to the Heavenly Court by a tall, thin deity known as Clairaudient.

I did not know why the Lord of the Six Paths had prevented the Ancestor from taking disciples; I only knew that they were the two most powerful beings in existence—one a demon, the other a god.

(Current Situation)

I held Lu Yao’s waist as we soared through the high altitude. At this height, thousands of meters up, no one could see the view beneath her skirt.

Lu Yao showed no fear now. She did not mind that I was of a different race; she let me carry her through the skies, looking for all the world like a superhero from some television show.

"Senior Xiaodong, look! There's a plane!" Lu Yao pointed toward the clouds a few hundred meters away.

Sure enough, a passenger jet, packed with travelers, emerged from the clouds, heading in our direction.

"Lu Yao, shall we go for a ride?"

No sooner had I spoken than I zipped toward the aircraft, darting from the nose to the top of the fuselage like a gust of wind. I imagine the pilot must have been startled, though they likely mistook us for a giant bird.

The silver body of the plane was over a hundred meters long, making Lu Yao and me look tiny upon its surface. The wind resistance here was immense, several times stronger than on the train. But with me there, I wouldn't let the wind blow her away; I used my supernatural energy to neutralize the gale, turning the harsh gusts into a gentle breeze around her.

Lu Yao stood on the fuselage, arms outstretched, savoring the thrill of the clouds. The breeze caught her hair and her creamy white dress, making her look as beautiful and moving as a fairy.

Three or four hours slipped by. The sun had long since set, and it was time to descend.

Returning to the train was impossible, so we decided to check into a hotel and take a long-distance bus home the next day. As it happened, Lu Yao was also from S Province.

We booked two rooms. Since my clothes were riddled with bullet holes, I had Lu Yao go out and buy me a new set. Girls are naturally better at shopping than boys; the outfit she picked fit perfectly and looked far better than my old one.

I checked the time on my fake, gold-plated plastic Rolex; it was past seven. I pulled out my new phone, only to find it had eight bullet holes in it. I was so furious I threw it aside—damn it, even making a phone call was such a hassle.

Lu Yao and I chatted; her room was right next door. Due to limited funds, we had checked into a mid-range hotel, so the facilities were rather basic.

During our conversation, I learned that Lu Yao was quite timid; she was afraid to sleep alone in this strange place and asked if she could sleep in my room instead.

A romantic opportunity! A blatant, beautiful stroke of luck. I agreed without a second thought, though the outcome wasn't quite what I had envisioned.

In the end, Lu Yao tossed me a pillow and told me to sleep on the sofa, while she claimed the big bed for herself. I was miserable in an instant.

Still, I couldn't complain. The distance between the sofa and the bed was less than three meters. Aside from a few floor tiles, it was almost like sleeping in the same bed.

By eight o'clock, I saw that Lu Yao had fallen asleep. As a member of the Night Race, I felt no drowsiness at all, so I began to admire the beauty lying across from me.

Men are all the same when it comes to women. No matter how refined a man may be, he becomes a beast in the presence of a beauty—unless, of course, he is a eunuch or a deviant.

Lu Yao wore a creamy white dress that didn't reach her knees. The sight of her fair, exposed thighs made me feel as if I were burning from within. To suppress my sinful impulses, I chose to act the part of a scholar and turned my head away.

A while later, I felt Lu Yao shift. My wretched curiosity got the better of me, and I couldn't help but turn back.

The sight before me made me, a massive virgin, bleed from the nose instantly. It was pure, unadulterated temptation.

Lu Yao had turned over, and her dress had inadvertently hiked up, leaving my mind a complete blank.

Damn it, I couldn't take it anymore! It was just too tempting!

To stifle the urge to commit a crime, I dived into the bathroom, stripped off my clothes, and let the cold water from the shower douse my heated body, trying to calm the little universe churning inside me.
