Rumble!

The earth trembled inexplicably. Concerned for the safety of his team, Fang Panguo ordered everyone to evacuate the five-story police station. Better safe than sorry; if the building were to collapse, he might survive, but his subordinates were mere mortals who would surely be crushed or maimed.

The station was located in the suburbs, chosen specifically so that training exercises would not disturb the public, leaving the surrounding area filled with pleasant, open green lawns.

There were fewer than fifty officers left in the station. No sooner had they cleared the perimeter than half of the building crumbled into a pile of rubble, sending up a cloud of dust that blotted out the sun in a truly spectacular fashion.

After half an hour, the dust began to settle. Yet, what greeted them was not merely debris, but a gargantuan lizard, over a hundred feet long, trampling the remains of the structure. Standing steadily atop the lizard’s head was a long-haired man in black robes, his cold gaze fixed upon the people below.

It was as if a beast from another realm had descended upon the real world, and in this world, there was no one capable of matching it.

"I have long heard that humans are called the most spiritual of beings, possessed of peerless wisdom and combat prowess. Yet, seeing you today, I detect no energy fluctuations within any of you. Pray tell, upon what do you rely to dominate this world?"

The man in black spoke coldly. A sudden gust of wind blew, revealing the sword he had been keeping his hand pressed against.

Following this came an overwhelming, imperial aura that radiated outward, making it difficult for those nearby to breathe. Their bodies were forced into a reluctant bow, save for Fang Panguo.

As a Bureau Chief, Fang Panguo possessed a dense aura of authority, and as the original Demon Corpse King who had lived for over two thousand years, the kingly energy within him was invincible. He stood firm, his own presence clashing with the man’s imperial pressure.

"Who are you? Why is your aura unlike that of any other esper?"

Fang Panguo pointed at the man on the lizard's head, and a surge of royal power erupted from his body. It slammed violently against the man’s imperial aura, the two forces locking in a fierce confrontation.

The officers behind Fang Panguo had already retreated according to his orders. Even without the command, they were not foolish enough to court death. Whatever that monster was, a handgun was nothing more than a toy in its eyes—utterly useless. Realizing that staying meant certain death, they chose to flee.

Because they were in the suburbs, the area was sparsely populated. Fang Panguo lured the lizard and the man further into the uninhabited wilderness, intent on a showdown with this unknown adversary.

The giant lizard flicked its tongue, carrying the man in black across the grass like a moving mountain, leaving massive footprints in its wake.

"You ask who I am? I shall tell you. Three thousand years ago, I came from another dimension. I was wounded by a master of this world and fell into a deep slumber. I swore a vow in my consciousness that I would grant one unconditional favor to the first person who saved me. This is that promise. Whether I succeed or not is irrelevant. Come, pathetic human, let me see how strong you truly are."

The man in black drew his sword and channeled a bizarre, supernatural energy to launch an attack. The giant lizard beneath him grew agitated, moving with unexpected agility as it charged at Fang Panguo.

"Hmph, another ancient relic, are you? I’d like to see just how formidable a three-thousand-year-old fossil like you can be. And you claim to be from another realm? What a load of nonsense!"

As Fang Panguo spoke, a pair of four-meter-long, dark purple wings unfurled from his back. His black hair turned dark purple, and a series of dark purple incantations appeared across his pale face. His red eyes glared coldly at the charging beast and its rider.

Transformed, Fang Panguo was a different being. His stoic face was now etched with a chilling indifference, resembling the Grim Reaper himself. Although he had lived for two millennia, he had rarely encountered such strange phenomena, and his reclusive nature meant he knew nothing of other dimensions.

In truth, traveling from another dimension to this one was harder than ascending to heaven. The inhabitants of this world only knew of such things through the memories of fallen races, such as the reclusive vampires or the Kuiba.

Since this man had been able to tear through the void to arrive here, he must have been a figure of immense significance in his own world; otherwise, no one would have spent the massive amount of energy required to send him across.

"Power of the Demon Corpse!"

"Rumble!"

As Fang Panguo unleashed his power, a layer of dark purple energy enveloped his body, pulsating across his skin. He raised his arms and slammed them against the charging giant lizard, miraculously stopping the hundred-foot-long beast in its tracks.

"Hm, not bad. You managed to block my Ancient Giant Lizard. It is time you learned a lesson—consider it a gift of common knowledge from me. In the other worlds, never underestimate anything smaller than yourself, for the energy contained within them is often far more refined and potent than that of the massive."

The man in black leaped from the back of the lizard, holding his gold-hilted sword as he slowly walked toward Fang Panguo. Since Fang Panguo was fully occupied holding back the beast, he could only glare in fury at the approaching man.

"A true warrior does not fear death. Let me tell you, the other world is connected to many divine realms. We are known as barbarians by the gods, for we observe no chivalry, slaughtering one another in a world where only the strong survive. I am going to send you to hell, and I owe you no reason for it!"

The man in black raised his gold-hilted sword, the blade wreathed in sinister energy, and slashed toward Fang Panguo’s head.
