Chapter 34: Transforming into Ultraman—Let Me Do It
Damn, as expected, this woman orchestrated the whole thing herself.
When Zhang Kai saw the red-tailed wasps, he cursed inwardly. He suppressed his breath even further and lowered his body.
A dense swarm of red-tailed wasps, under Gu Mingyu’s command, flew in all directions within the underground palace. As Zhang Kai wondered if he would be exposed, suddenly the water surface churned. The monstrous serpent that had just dragged the giant anaconda into the water resurfaced, its crimson eyes glinting toward the wasps.
Both being spiritual creatures, there seemed to be a unique sense between them allowing mutual detection.
As soon as it emerged, the red-tailed spirit wasps panicked and immediately burrowed into the crevice of Gu Mingyu’s chest.
At the same time, Gu Mingyu and her group also saw the strange serpent and were left utterly stunned.
“A mutant serpent—impossible! It’s still alive!”
“No, it’s a self-initiated transformation. It’s become another kind of anomaly, its soul merged into the bones, turning into an Undying Skeleton.” The twin-tailed girl quickly made her assessment, then frowned. “This is bad. With this change, it has lost its cultivation, but its bones must be even harder than before, nearly impossible to damage. With this thing guarding here, we have no way of obtaining the divine body.”
Gu Mingyu, however, remained composed. “Don’t worry. Leave this thing to me. You two go search for the Divine Body of Master Changling Mountain.”
The twin-tailed girl and Daoist Chongming were instantly invigorated by her words and nodded in agreement.
They split up.
The twin-tailed girl and Daoist Chongming circled around from the side, while Gu Mingyu ordered her followers to deal with the strange serpent.
No one knew how these followers had been trained, but despite knowing the power gap, none hesitated—they all charged forward bravely.
Among them, several fully armed individuals sprayed a kind of gas at the serpent.
The gas shot out six or seven meters, enveloping the area in a frosty haze. The serpent, touched by the gas, quickly became encrusted with ice crystals, and even the water’s surface froze over.
This surprised Zhang Kai.
What sort of technological weapon was this? It seemed extraordinary.
The strange serpent remained motionless, as if truly frozen.
But as the group approached, the serpent suddenly lunged; the ice shattered instantly, and with a violent toss of its head, several armored fighters were sent flying, their bodies cracking in midair as though every bone was broken.
The serpent then emerged fully from the water—dozens of meters long, now nothing but a skeletal frame, yet its terrifying presence was undiminished.
At this moment, a cloud of mosquito-like creatures flew over, fearlessly swarming the serpent’s bones.
A sizzle—wherever the insects landed, the serpent’s bones began to corrode.
Yet the serpent showed no response, seemingly unconcerned.
Then, several more people activated devices on their bodies, launching chains that wrapped around the serpent, attempting to restrain it.
The serpent thrashed wildly, lifting its attackers off the ground, then whipped its tail, sending them flying.
One was even thrown directly in front of the twin-tailed girl and Daoist Chongming, forcing them to halt.
Looking up, they found themselves staring into the serpent’s crimson eyes.
Clearly, although the serpent had become skeletal, it was far from mindless—if anything, it was alert and cunning.
The two looked grim.
“Fellow cultivators, how about we cooperate? I have Bone Sect’s secret medicine, the Trisun Bone-Melting Elixir. Let’s work together to defeat this serpent and dissolve its bone soul. The serpent’s skeleton will belong to Bone Sect.” Just then, the young man from Bone Sect emerged, grinning.
“Fine. As long as it’s dealt with, it’s yours,” Gu Mingyu agreed without hesitation.
“Very well. The Demon Sect’s arts are unparalleled—Miss Saint Candidate, would you care to join forces?” The Bone Sect youth looked at the twin-tailed girl.
She replied coldly, “I have not yet sensed Qi or refined true energy. Even with secret arts, I can’t unleash much power. How could I possibly contend with this serpent!”
“I’ve made my offer. Is the Demon Sect so timid they won’t even try?” The Bone Sect youth’s eyes gleamed.
The twin-tailed girl rolled her eyes.
She wasn’t stupid—facing the serpent head-on, even a single blow would be fatal. As a disciple of the Demon Sect, she had no inclination for self-sacrifice.
“Perhaps I should give it a try,” a deep voice suddenly sounded.
At these words, everyone’s expressions changed.
An unfamiliar voice—there was someone else present.
They all turned to look. Faces blanked.
Ultraman!?
“Wait, that’s Tiga Ultraman!” Gu Mingyu’s eyes nearly popped out.
How could Ultraman exist in this world? This had to be someone in disguise…
Just as everyone was puzzling over this, Ultraman suddenly soared toward the Bone Sect youth.
He flew—actually flew—just like Ultraman.
Everyone’s jaws dropped in shock.
Ultraman’s flight was swift; he passed over the Bone Sect youth, snatched the bottle from his grasp, then turned and flew toward the serpent.
Faced with this new creature, even the serpent was bewildered, staring intently at Ultraman.
Ultraman began circling around the serpent’s head—once, twice, many times—until the serpent’s crimson eyes seemed to grow dizzy.
Then Ultraman descended, slapped the bottle onto the serpent’s skull, and darted away.
The bottle shattered, spilling a stream of inky black liquid that swiftly seeped into the serpent’s skull.
Sensing mortal danger, the serpent thrashed wildly, trying to shake off the liquid.
Meanwhile, Ultraman shot off toward the burial chamber deep within the underground palace.
Only three minutes in this form—there was no time to waste.
Gu Mingyu, the old fortune-teller, and the others were left dumbfounded.
The scene was simply too bizarre.
A proper world of immortal heroes, and suddenly—science fiction?
Bang!
The serpent crashed to the ground, its crimson eyes gradually dimming until it lay motionless. Its skull had caved in, the bone softened and collapsed.
“No! The divine body!” Gu Mingyu suddenly came to her senses and rushed toward the depths of the underground palace.
By now, Zhang Kai had entered the burial chamber and saw an enormous coffin, exquisitely carved from pure white jade.
There was no time for further study. With a wave of his hand, he unleashed the Sevenfold Spiral Slash, shattering the coffin and revealing a scarlet inner sarcophagus.
He lifted the lid—immediately, a spectral figure appeared: a bearded man clad in armor, wielding a divine trident.
The figure glared at Zhang Kai. “Who are you?”
Zhang Kai glanced at the apparition, then at the goat lying in the coffin. “So the mountain god is actually a goat?”
The bearded man replied coldly, “Whatever you are, you have dared to defile the gods. You will suffer heaven’s wrath.”
Zhang Kai couldn’t be bothered to respond.
A mountain god who had abandoned everything to avoid disaster—what else could he do but talk tough?
He stepped forward and seized the goat from the coffin.
Instantly, a chill wrapped around him, an intensely unpleasant sensation.
He paused, muttering, “A curse?”
The bearded apparition said nothing, merely staring at him coldly.
No matter.
As a player with cheats, a mere curse was nothing.
Ignoring the frigid aura, Zhang Kai scooped up the goat and flew off.
The moment the goat was taken, the spectral figure vanished.
As Zhang Kai flew out, Gu Mingyu and her group arrived just in time to see what he was carrying—and were furious.
After all their scheming, someone else had reaped the reward.
“Put down the divine body!” Gu Mingyu shouted, waving her hand as a dazzling, multicolored viper shot toward him.
Zhang Kai didn’t pause. With a flick of his wrist, the Sevenfold Spiral Slash flew out, slicing the viper cleanly in two from head to tail.
Watching Ultraman fly off, Gu Mingyu’s lips twitched and her eyes glazed over.
Was that the legendary Tiga Ultraman’s exclusive skill—Tiga Cutter?
Was this truly Ultraman?
How could that be possible?
