Chapter 21: The Archmage's Shock! Heaven-Defying Magical Control!
"Elder Qi, what do you make of this?" Chen Feng, the burly man in red armor, turned to the old man in green robes beside him.
The old man’s eyes were deep and contemplative.
"Seventh-tier..."
"Wind-element magic: Roaring Gale Thousand Storms Break...!"
"No, that’s not right. Based on the current density of wind elemental energy, the caster must have unleashed more than just one seventh-tier spell...!"
Qi Guoguang, Vice President of the Tianhai City Professionals Alliance. A true Seventh-Rank powerhouse. Like Lin Yi, he was a mage.
As the saying goes, the layman watches the show, while the expert watches the technique. Upon entering the Dead Silence Zone, Qi Guoguang immediately noticed the intense residual magical aura. He even deduced that someone had continuously cast seventh-tier wind spells three times in this very spot!
"Hmm...?"
"Wait!"
"There are also traces of fire-elemental magical fluctuations!"
"It’s... Heavenly Flame Dragon Breath!"
A moment later, Qi Guoguang’s eyes widened slightly. He sensed the fluctuations of another element, and the magnitude of these fluctuations was... also seventh-tier!!
In other words, before those three seventh-tier wind spells, there had been a seventh-tier fire spell bombardment!
A soft, green light suffused Qi Guoguang’s eyes. He retrieved a staff from his spatial storage, its tip inlaid with a precious emerald mana crystal. With a flick of his wrist, he uttered a single word:
"Disperse."
In an instant, the wild winds that had shrouded the entire Dead Silence Zone ceased. The thick, heavy clouds in the sky gradually dissipated, allowing sunlight to spill down.
Chen Feng, standing to the side, was stunned. This ability to disperse a storm with a wave of his hand was truly impressive. Damn it! Mages were just so cool! Even though Chen Feng was much younger than Qi Guoguang, he couldn't help but envy such god-like mastery over the elements. By comparison, his warrior skills felt crude and barbaric. This was exactly why most people called warrior-class professionals "meat shields" while calling mages "Mage Lords"—because mages were simply flashy!
For Qi Guoguang, dispelling the storm was not particularly difficult.
He was a mage who specialized in the wind element. His skill points were focused entirely on wind magic, and his systematic research into magical fluctuations and composition far surpassed that of a novice like Lin Yi, who could cast high-tier spells instantly but lacked an understanding of the underlying principles.
As the clouds cleared and the storm settled, the sight on the surface of the Dead Silence Zone still made Chen Feng gasp. The entire surface of the land had been scraped away by one or two meters by the violent winds! The exposed earth was crisscrossed with countless dense, chaotic, and deep ravines.
These ravines looked as if they had been slashed by an incredibly sharp blade. However, given the massive scale and the lack of any pattern in the cuts, it was impossible for them to be the work of a sword-wielding warrior. They were the scars left by violent wind blades plowing deep into the earth!
Beyond that, Chen Feng also saw a scorched zone nearly ten kilometers wide and hundreds of kilometers long. He dared not imagine what had transpired here.
"Elder Qi, there seem to be other people down there!"
A Sixth-Rank professional had excellent vision. Even from the air, Chen Feng keenly spotted rows upon rows of professionals lying scattered across the ground.
A pale blue magical radiance shimmered, and in the blink of an eye, Qi Guoguang vanished. Chen Feng was momentarily stunned, only to see the old man appear beside the group of professionals on the ground.
Mage utility skill: Blink.
Chen Feng was speechless once again. These flashy, effortless skills that mages possessed were just too many! He was so envious! He had no choice but to channel his internal battle energy and fly down.
Chen Feng landed beside one of the professionals and reached out a finger to check for breath. He looked surprised. "This person is still alive!"
"How did they survive...?"
Chen Feng was amazed by the sheer tenacity of this professional’s life force. According to Qi Guoguang’s earlier analysis, there had been three seventh-tier wind spells and one seventh-tier fire spell. The entire training area had been turned into this hellscape. The fact that anyone had survived was simply absurd.
Qi Guoguang’s face showed signs of shock as he said slowly, "It’s not just this one. Everyone lying here is alive; they’ve only passed out."
Chen Feng was stunned. "What? Elder Qi, after four seventh-tier spells, how did they survive!?"
A flicker of profound curiosity and admiration entered Qi Guoguang’s eyes.
"Extremely terrifying magical control."
Chen Feng was left scratching his head.
Qi Guoguang continued to explain: "If I were to cast a seventh-tier wind spell right now, I could guarantee that these professionals wouldn't die, or even get injured. However, the person who was here before and dealt with that Death Knight possesses a mastery of fire magic that rivals my own, and their control is in no way inferior to their wind magic."
"They are, at the very least, a dual-element Seventh-Rank Saint Archmage."
After speaking, Qi Guoguang fell into deep thought. He was clearly searching his mind, trying to recall anyone in the Great Xia who practiced both fire and wind magic, and had mastered both to the seventh tier or higher. Such an individual would undoubtedly be one of the few in the entire nation!
However, he couldn't match the profile to anyone he knew.
*Could it be that my connections aren't broad enough?* he wondered. *Perhaps I should take a trip to the Pantheon and ask a few deacons. Maybe this person is a deacon from the Pantheon...*
Qi Guoguang actually felt a twinge of envy. Even though he was a renowned wind Saint Archmage, admired by thousands, he could only pursue the pinnacle of wind magic in this lifetime. He felt both admiration and envy for those capable of dual-element cultivation. Without a doubt, the effort required for dual-element cultivation was far greater than specializing in one!
Qi Guoguang closed his eyes, silently sensing the residual mana fluctuations from Lin Yi’s four spells. Soon, he extracted the magical imprint, thread by thread. A magical imprint was like a person's signature; every mage had unique characteristics and details in their spellcasting, which, when combined, formed their imprint. By comparing these imprints, it was much easier to locate the mage.
Qi Guoguang memorized the special magical imprint, then opened his eyes and said, "Let’s head to Canglan first and inform them of the situation. It’ll make things easier for you to report back."
Chen Feng nodded. In truth, it was he who had been tasked with this emergency. Since Qi Guoguang had a close relationship with his father, his father hadn't been comfortable with him coming alone and had requested the help of this Seventh-Rank Saint Archmage.
The two paid no further mind to the professionals; since they weren't dead, they would likely wake up soon enough. As for the aftermath, Canglan City would have to handle its own cleanup. They had only come to deal with the crisis. Now that the crisis had been inexplicably resolved by someone else, they just needed to go through the motions to prove they had arrived.
