Liu Ying was already seven parts drunk and failed to notice the lecherous look in the man’s eyes. She merely gave a foolish smile and said, “I came with a friend.”

Seeing her like this, the man knew she had had too much to drink. A woman in this state only needed a little more alcohol before she would be completely unaware of what was happening.

His lust immediately got the better of him. He grabbed Liu Ying and said, “Beautiful, why don’t you have a few more drinks with us brothers?”

Although Liu Ying was drunk, she could still sense that such blatant physical harassment was wrong. She frowned and hurriedly said, “Let go of me!”

The man shamelessly replied, “Why are you acting so aloof? We brothers are a lot of fun, and we can hold our liquor too.”

At that moment, Lin Shan noticed the commotion around Liu Ying. He sauntered over, pulled her behind him, and looked at the burly man before him.

“Buddy, she’s my friend. She’s had too much to drink, and I’m taking her home.”

The burly man was not about to let his prey slip away.

Although Lin Shan was over six feet tall, he looked rather thin and frail. The man said, “I think this beauty wants to drink with us brothers. Don’t stick your nose into other people’s business.”

He glanced behind him. Apart from the tattooed brute, there was a scar-faced man and a fat man. All three were burly and over six feet tall.

The three of them sat together like that, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger would not have wanted to provoke them. Now, all three were staring menacingly at Lin Shan. Ordinary people would never have been able to withstand such pressure.

Liu Ying, hiding behind Lin Shan, was a little frightened as well. She said, “I bumped into you just now, and that was my fault. I’m sorry. But I don’t want to drink with you. Lin Shan, let’s go.”

With that, she tugged at Lin Shan and tried to lead him downstairs.

However, the tattooed brute stepped in front of them and pointed at Lin Shan.

“You can leave. Let this beauty have a few more drinks with us.”

Looking at the three aggressive men, Lin Shan thought that if this had happened in the past, he might truly have been helpless.

But things were different now. With the Everlasting Spring Technique and the Little Jade Yang Fist, he might not be able to defeat true experts, but dealing with ordinary people was no problem at all.

Lin Shan said to the tattooed brute, “Buddy, I don’t want trouble. If you want to find girls to drink with, go to a nightclub. My friend isn’t that kind of person.”

The three men were already thoroughly drunk.

Their drinking manners were pitifully poor. Taking advantage of the alcohol coursing through him, the scar-faced man cursed, “What the hell are you pretending to be so pure for? I’m going to have a couple of drinks with you whether you like it or not.”

He then moved to grab Liu Ying.

Lin Shan immediately stepped in front of Liu Ying. A vicious glint flashed in the scar-faced man’s eyes, and he suddenly threw a punch at Lin Shan’s lower abdomen.

Lin Shan neither dodged nor evaded. He simply took the punch head-on.

What happened next stunned everyone present. The scar-faced man had clearly been the one throwing the punch, yet when his fist struck Lin Shan’s abdomen, it was as if he had hit a solid wall. He let out a cry of pain and withdrew his hand, his fist trembling uncontrollably.

Lin Shan, on the other hand, merely had a slightly flushed complexion. It would be wrong to say the punch had no effect at all—it had hurt a little, but not much.

Seeing this, the other two clenched their fists and charged forward. Lin Shan responded in the same way, blocking their attacks with his arms. Although they had been the ones attacking, their twisted expressions made it seem as though they were the ones being beaten.

Standing behind Lin Shan, Liu Ying was so astonished that she could not speak. As she stared at his back, she could not help thinking, “Just how many secrets is he hiding?”

“Holy crap, is that some kind of iron-body kung fu?”

A young man in the crowd was filming with his phone and could not help shouting.

“Yeah! The guy being hit is fine, while the attackers look like they’ve broken their bones. That’s incredible!”

The three men crouched on the floor, clutching their fists and crying out in pain. They looked at Lin Shan as though he were a ghost.

Lin Shan, meanwhile, remained completely calm, as if nothing had happened.

Just then, a commotion rose from downstairs. Two police officers came up the stairs. The owner had noticed that something was wrong and immediately called the police.

The officers walked up to Lin Shan and surveyed the scene. One of them asked, “What happened?”

Lin Shan pointed at Liu Ying, then at the three men.

“My friend had too much to drink and accidentally bumped into the tattooed gentleman. He wanted my friend to drink with them, but she refused. I tried to stop them, and they punched me three times.”

The two officers were both dumbfounded. They wondered, “Aren’t you the one who was attacked? How are you completely unharmed?”

The three men had sobered up somewhat. When one of them saw the police, he hurriedly said, “It’s all a misunderstanding! It’s all a misunderstanding!”

The officers ignored him and went to check the surveillance footage. After watching the astonishing scene, one of them looked at Lin Shan and said, “Not bad, brother. You know some real kung fu!”

True strength inevitably earned respect.

Lin Shan smiled faintly. “This doesn’t count as fighting, does it?”

The reason he had not struck back was that he did not want to cause trouble. If he had fought back, the incident would most likely have been classified as mutual combat.

The three men sat there like wilted eggplants, not daring to say a word.

One of the officers asked, “Brother, do you want to press charges? If you do, you’ll need to come with us to the station.”

Lin Shan glanced at the three men and shook his head.

“Forget it. They’ve obviously had too much to drink. It’s better to avoid unnecessary trouble.”

Since Lin Shan had said that, the two officers did not pursue the matter. Looking at the three men crouched on the floor, one of them said, “Don’t let a few drinks make you forget which way is up. You’re lucky this time—this gentleman doesn’t want to hold it against you. What are you waiting for? Thank him.”

The three men immediately got to their feet and thanked Lin Shan profusely.

Lin Shan waved them off, paid the bill at the front desk, and led Liu Ying out of the restaurant.

The moment they stepped outside, Liu Ying seemed to come back to her senses. She looked at Lin Shan and said, “What you just did was exactly like the kung fu in the movies.”

“How do you know it wasn’t real kung fu?” Lin Shan replied.

Liu Ying blinked. “There’s really kung fu in this world?”

Lin Shan smiled but did not continue the subject. Instead, he said, “Come on. I’ll take you home.”

They hailed a taxi by the roadside. Neither of them spoke during the ride. Liu Ying gazed at the lights outside the window, feeling her cheeks grow hot.

Although many men had always surrounded her, she had been absorbed in her studies and had never even been on a proper date. Her outing with Lin Shan that day was the first date of her life.

Now, in the cramped space of the back seat, Liu Ying felt as though she could hardly breathe. Lin Shan’s presence beside her seemed to wash over her in waves, making her heart flutter.

Half an hour later, the car reached its destination. Lin Shan said, “Liu Ying, we’re here.”

In truth, Lin Shan was not faring much better.

Under the influence of the alcohol, his own instincts were beginning to stir.
