Chapter 14: I Had No Idea You Were a Little Heiress

He couldn’t understand why Chen Shuya, the pure and adorable girl he knew in high school, had changed so drastically by the time she reached university.

Driven by this feeling, Lin Bai composed a message:

“You weren’t like this before.”

Then he hit send.

But when a red exclamation mark appeared, Lin Bai was momentarily taken aback. He shook his head and decided to ignore her.

“Don’t get entangled with someone like her too much; it won’t do you any good.”

That morning, Lin Bai and Qin Ruowei worked out together. During the session, she told him that Chen Shuya had returned to campus and recounted everything that had happened the previous night. Lin Bai simply smiled it off.

After their run, they went to the courier station together to pick up the sports shoes Lin Bai had ordered from Hongxing Erke. Then, they parted ways, each busy with their own affairs.

Watching Qin Ruowei walk away, Lin Bai jogged over to the parking lot behind the East District cafeteria. The Mercedes GLE he had longed for was finally within reach!

“This… is your car?”

“I’m getting more and more curious about you. What exactly do you do? This car must have cost seventy or eighty thousand at least, right?”

Lin Bai smiled awkwardly. How could he explain that the car was a system reward, and that he owed it to her? If he said that, she’d probably think he was crazy.

“I’ve been doing some small business lately and made a little money. Didn’t want to embarrass you by not having a nice car for my beautiful girlfriend,” he lied out of necessity.

Qin Ruowei was pleased and continued, “Then why have you been hiding it from me?”

That was her reasoning.

Lin Bai didn’t argue and quickly took the easy way out. “Yes… exactly.”

“Since you’re so considerate of my feelings, I forgive you,” she teased.

“So what are you going to do now?”

“I’m thinking of taking a drive. I’ve never driven such a nice car before,” Lin Bai said honestly.

Qin Ruowei put her hands behind her back, grinning mischievously as she leaned closer. “Mind if I come along?”

Lin Bai, of course, didn’t mind—his only concern was whether the car had fuel.

“Let me check if there’s gas first.”

With that, Lin Bai got into the driver’s seat while Qin Ruowei naturally took the passenger side.

After starting the car, the fuel gauge showed full, and Lin Bai breathed a sigh of relief.

“Not bad, full tank. Where do you want to go?”

“Umm… take me home. I haven’t had dinner with my family for several days during the holiday.”

Lin Bai parked at the entrance of the community. At Qin Ruowei’s prompting, the security guard registered him before letting him in.

Qin Ruowei rolled her eyes. “Like you said, this belongs to my parents. I’m not really involved.”

Lin Bai turned his head, gazing at her with affection.

“That’s up ahead. You can come up with me.”

Following Qin Ruowei’s directions, Lin Bai drove downstairs to building one, which had only one unit.

Only after she disappeared from view did Lin Bai turn around and drive back to school.

At the gate of Jiangcheng University, Lin Bai was stopped.

Because of security restrictions, his car lacked a pass card, so the guard wouldn’t let him through.

Lin Bai pleaded, showing his student ID. The guard scrutinized the card and Lin Bai’s face back and forth multiple times before finally raising the barrier.

“If this is your car, get an access pass soon or it’ll be troublesome.”

The guard handed back the ID, giving a warning.

Lin Bai hadn’t thought of that and asked, “Where do I get the access pass? I’m a new student and don’t really know.”

“At the security office. They handle the passes.”

Hearing the words “security office,” Lin Bai instinctively thought of Yuan Fengcai. His father was the head of security, and they had an unpleasant encounter just yesterday.

Oh well, he’d cross that bridge when he came to it.

After greeting the guard, Lin Bai drove into the school.

His dorm was close to the East District cafeteria, so he parked behind the cafeteria.

Passing the East District cafeteria, Li Yu and Chen Shuya came out after finishing their meal.
