Chapter 52: Fickle and Promiscuous?
This is a suit, and it is by no means cheap. Qin Feng reluctantly walks into the fitting room to change. He knows that Hu Jiayun intends to buy him clothes, something he cannot accept, and besides, he never wears suits.
Qin Feng walks out wearing the suit. Hu Jiayun is waiting by the door. Seeing him in the suit, her eyes light up, and she nods repeatedly. "Turn around and let me take a look."
"Elder Sister... I don't need to buy clothes..."
"Why are you talking so much nonsense today? Turn around."
Yielding to Hu Jiayun's "tyrannical pressure," Qin Feng obediently spins around.
"Not bad, you've got a natural hanger for clothes after all. With a good figure, anything looks good, and you really pull off the look. Go change out of it. Clerk, pack this set up." Hu Jiayun says, thoroughly satisfied.
"Elder Sister, seriously, I don't need you to buy me clothes..."
"Who said I was buying it for you? Don't flatter yourself. Go change." Hu Jiayun gives Qin Feng a sideways glance.
With Hu Jiayun putting it that way, what more can Qin Feng say? He hurries back to the fitting room to change. When he comes out, he sees that Hu Jiayun is already paying the bill.
"Elder Sister, I told you not to buy me clothes. I have clothes to wear, and I don't even like wearing suits..." Qin Feng rushes over.
"Too late, it's already paid for." Hu Jiayun waves the receipt in her hand.
Qin Feng freezes for a moment and says, "How much is it? I'll pay you back."
As Qin Feng reaches to grab the receipt from her hand, Hu Jiayun pulls it back and says, "This suit cost twenty thousand. Hand over the money."
"Elder Sister... what are you doing?"
"I should be asking what *you* are doing. I'm your older sister—is it really a crime for me to buy you a suit? Do you think I'm buying you clothes just because you saved my life? What? Is your older sister's life worth so little that a single suit pays for it?" Hu Jiayun is genuinely angry this time.
"I didn't mean that..."
"If you didn't mean that, why all the nonsense? Carry it!"
Once Hu Jiayun gets angry, all of Qin Feng's temper instantly vanishes. He obediently carries the packaged clothes and follows Hu Jiayun outside.
"Elder Sister, don't be mad..."
Hu Jiayun completely ignores Qin Feng, leading him into another men's clothing store where she buys two shirts and a pair of leather shoes. This time, Qin Feng doesn't dare utter a single word of objection, obediently trying on the clothes and shoes.
"Elder Sister, I really didn't mean it that way. I just... I just don't like wearing suits and leather shoes. I've always worn casual clothes and sneakers."
"I bought you these precisely because you dress like a little punk all day long. You can dress however you want during your days off, but when you're at work, you need to look more mature and steady. What kind of impression do you think leaders get when they see you dressed like that? Would they dare entrust you with important positions and tasks?"
"You're still at the lowest grassroots level right now, but as you move up, you need to pay even more attention to these things. Whether it's your attire or the way you speak and act, you must project a mature and steady presence. Do you understand what I mean?" Hu Jiayun says to Qin Feng.
Qin Feng nods. These are principles he has never considered before.
As Hu Jiayun and Qin Feng walk out together, a group of women approaches from the opposite direction, chatting and laughing.
When Qin Feng spots one of the women, his gaze instantly turns sharp. The woman opposite him reacts in the exact same way.
Noticing Qin Feng stop in his tracks, Hu Jiayun looks at him with some curiosity, then turns to look at the woman standing still across from them. Remembering what Qin Feng told her that night, Hu Jiayun immediately guesses the situation. Without missing a beat, she links her arm through Qin Feng's and presses against his side.
Startled, Qin Feng asks, "Elder Sister... what are you..."
"What? Unwilling? Do you think I'm taking advantage of you?"
"No... I didn't mean that..."
"Hold me closer!"
"Huh?"
"Did you not hear me? Hold me closer."
"This..." Despite Hu Jiayun's "excessive" demand, Qin Feng complies, wrapping his arm around her waist.
Seeing this scene, the woman across from them turns pale with anger and immediately tells her friends, "You guys go on inside. I ran into an acquaintance, I'll go say hello."
Once the other women walk away, the woman strides directly toward Qin Feng.
Qin Feng glances at the approaching woman and pulls Hu Jiayun to the side, saying, "Elder Sister, let's go!"
"Where are we going? The exit is this way." Hu Jiayun pulls Qin Feng right toward the woman.
"Qin Feng, who is she?" The woman walks up to Qin Feng and Hu Jiayun, points at Hu Jiayun, and asks coldly in an accusing tone.
Qin Feng stops in his tracks. Looking at the woman who brought him endless humiliation, he says indifferently, "What does that have to do with you?"
With that, Qin Feng pulls Hu Jiayun, intending to walk around Li Jing.
"You explain yourself right now! Who on earth is she? What is your relationship with her?" Li Jing blocks Qin Feng's path.
Hu Jiayun smiles silently. Turning around, she adjusts the collar of Qin Feng's shirt and says, "Look at you, your clothes are all wrinkled. I told you this morning I'd help you iron them, but you insisted on refusing."
"Huh?" Qin Feng freezes, not quite understanding what act Hu Jiayun is putting on.
Seeing the intimate interaction between Hu Jiayun and Qin Feng, Li Jing is instantly consumed by fury. "Qin Feng, you bastard! You claimed over and over that you loved me, but what now? It's only been a few days since we broke up, and you've already found someone new? Are you even human?!"
Hu Jiayun turns her face to look at Li Jing and asks Qin Feng, "Who is she? Do you know her?"
"She... she is..." Qin Feng doesn't know how to respond.
"I'm his girlfriend! And who the hell are you?" Li Jing asks Hu Jiayun with an arrogant and haughty demeanor.
"Girlfriend? You mean *ex*-girlfriend, right? Oh... is she the one... the one who went behind your back with someone else?" Hu Jiayun adopts a look of sudden realization, then turns her gaze back to Li Jing. "You call him a bastard, but what does that make you? A promiscuous woman? A loose and unfaithful wretch?"
Though Hu Jiayun's tone is entirely calm, every single word strikes straight at Li Jing's heart.
