Volume One, Chapter 19: It Seems I Have Committed Murder
Ning Feifei could only hear rustling sounds when suddenly a hand slapped her face. Gritting her teeth, she twisted her body and kicked out. A sharp scream pierced the air.
“You little bitch!”
“I’m going to kill you today!”
Ning Feifei turned and ran in another direction, but after just one step, someone grabbed her hair with a fierce tug.
“Ah!”
The piercing scream echoed outside the dilapidated building.
Wei Ge leaned against the wall; all his henchmen were inside, only he had stepped out. He lowered his head and pulled out his phone, gazing at a photo of Wei Qing on the screen, his eyes filled with deep affection. After staring for a long moment, he suddenly realized there was no screaming anymore. This was impossible! Every time they tormented someone, the victim would scream relentlessly.
He turned and walked back inside, opening the abandoned wooden door while grumbling, “Hurry up, if you drag this out any longer, someone will come to rescue her…”
He swallowed the rest of his words.
A knife gleamed coldly against his neck, its icy blade slicing his skin as a warning. Not far away on the floor lay a dozen of his men, all stained with blood—whether alive or dead, he could not tell.
Ning Feifei leaned against a wooden crate nearby, the cloth covering her eyes long unraveled. With one hand, she gripped a stick, her expression wary.
Song Xu nudged his knee with her foot. “Let’s go.”
She stood slightly behind and to the side of Wei Ge, invisible to him, who could only judge by her voice that she was a woman—a ruthless one at that.
“There’s no need for trouble,” he probed cautiously. “Are you here to rescue Ning Feifei? Sent by Shen Bei?”
Song Xu brought Wei Ge directly in front of Ning Feifei. “He’s right here, about twenty centimeters away.”
Wei Ge had no idea what the two women intended, but he paid no heed to this blind girl. His true concern was the woman holding the knife.
“Are you being paid? How much? I’ll double it—no, triple it…” Perhaps Ning Feifei’s calm demeanor unnerved him, and a flicker of fear crept into his heart. His words quickened, “Do you know who my sister is? My sister is Wei Qing, a big celebrity, very wealthy.”
“And her boyfriend is rich too—Shen Bei.”
“You know the Shen family, right?”
“Shen Bei will inherit the Shen family one day.”
“If you let me go, I’ll have them send you a lot of money...”
Bang.
His words were cut off abruptly.
Blood splattered, staining Song Xu and Ning Feifei.
Though blind, Ning Feifei’s strength and precision did not falter; her stick struck his head with unerring accuracy.
Song Xu released her grip, and Wei Ge’s lifeless body collapsed to the ground.
“Is what he said true? Shen Bei is with that Wei Qing?”
Song Xu nodded. “Do you know who Wei Ge is?”
Ning Feifei shook her head.
Song Xu pulled a phone from Wei Ge’s pocket and handed it to Ning Feifei. “He’s Wei Qing’s brother—and the very man responsible for your car accident.”
Ning Feifei’s expression froze as she clutched the phone. “What are you saying?”
Song Xu explained, “When you had the accident and became comatose, Shen Bei was devastated. But the culprit was already in prison, so he couldn’t take revenge on him. Instead, he sought to retaliate against Wei Qing.”
“Unexpectedly, Wei Qing approached him willingly to atone for her brother’s sins.”
Ning Feifei’s mouth parted slightly, disbelief written across her face despite her sightless eyes. “So Shen Bei’s way of revenge was to be with the culprit’s sister? And Wei Qing’s way to atone was to be with Shen Bei?”
Song Xu tapped a few times on the screen and said, “While Wei Qiang was in prison, to prove his sincere repentance, he signed a body donation agreement.”
“And your eyes happened to need corneas.”
She pressed the call button. “You know what to say.”
As soon as the call connected, Song Xu began walking outside.
Ning Feifei’s voice trembled with panic. “Is that the police? Are they the police? I think I might have killed someone.”
