“It doesn’t matter who I am. What matters is that you must come with me right now. Someone is coming to hurt you!”

Song Yan flipped over, stood up from the ground, and stepped toward Ning Feifei.

Time was urgent; there was no room for delay.

She had taken only one step when Ning Feifei swung her stick again.

“I don’t even know who you are, and yet you expect me to go with you!” Because she couldn’t see, Ning Feifei had to rely on sound to locate her opponent. “It’s so quiet outside the ward today—was this all arranged by you?”

If she hadn’t sensed something was wrong and grabbed a stick to defend herself, she would have been completely at their mercy by now.

“Call Shen Bei.”

Ning Feifei insisted, “If you want me to believe you, then call Shen Bei.”

Song Yan looked helpless. “It’s Shen Bei who wants to harm you.”

“What!”

Taking advantage of Ning Feifei’s momentary shock, Song Yan lunged forward, swinging her hand and striking at Ning Feifei’s wrist, snatching the stick right out of her hand and tossing it aside.

“You have to come with me now…”

Ning Feifei kicked out at her, but Song Yan narrowly dodged.

Ning Feifei’s moves were skilled, but having been in a vegetative state for years and unable to see, she was quickly subdued again by Song Yan.

Song Yan twisted her hands behind her back, pressing a knee against her waist and pinning Ning Feifei down onto the hospital bed.

“Can you just listen to me quietly?”

“Is this how you want me to listen quietly?” Ning Feifei sneered.

At that moment, a commotion came from outside.

Both Song Yan and Ning Feifei heard it.

Ning Feifei shouted, “I’m here!”

Footsteps immediately surged toward them.

Song Yan whispered into her ear, “I really came to save you. These people are the ones trying to hurt you. Trust me!”

She released Ning Feifei and rolled under the hospital bed.

No sooner had she hidden there than the intruders burst in.

“Brother Wei, we found her.”

The speaker’s voice was rough, tinged with a rural accent.

“Didn’t expect she’d be a pretty one!”

A man dressed in dress pants and black leather shoes stepped in. “What kind of taste do you have? This one pretty?”

“She can’t be prettier than my sister,” someone else immediately flattered.

“Of course not, no one’s as beautiful as the great beauty, Qingqing. Not all the women in the world combined can match her.”

“Right, right, who can compare to the great beauty Qingqing?”

Song Yan peeked out from under the bed, gauging their numbers.

There were about a dozen men.

If it were just her, she could have escaped easily.

But bringing Ning Feifei along made it impossible.

Especially since she couldn’t reveal her own condition.

“Don’t waste time. Take her away quickly! The security system can only be down for an hour.”

The dozen men surged forward, knocking Ning Feifei unconscious and carrying her off.

When Ning Feifei woke again, she was met only by the stench of mold and decay.

“Brother Wei, do we really not need to tie her up?”

The man called Brother Wei sighed. “Why tie her up? She’s blind. Even if you let her run, where could she possibly go?”

“Oh, she’s awake!”

Though she could see nothing, Ning Feifei felt the weight of their gazes upon her.

Weakness.

Darkness.

Pain.

She struggled to suppress the fear swelling in her heart. “Who are you? What do you want? I don’t think I have any grudge or feud with you.”

“Grudges or no grudges don’t matter. The point is, you weren’t supposed to wake up.” Brother Wei approached, crouched before her, and grabbed her cheek. “Why didn’t you die? Fine if you didn’t, but to wake up again…”

“Heh! Then I guess I’ll have to personally send you to your death.”

“Hey, big brother!” someone stopped Brother Wei. “This girl looks pretty good. How about we… hee hee hee!”

A lecherous voice echoed.

Brother Wei rolled his eyes in exasperation. “Enough, enough! All you ever think about is messing around. Those interested, hurry up! Don’t waste my time.”
