By the time Wen Huaiye returned, it was already the following morning.
Song Yue was eating breakfast when she looked up and saw him walk in, carrying a brand-new helmet.
The left side of his face was visibly swollen, and there was a thin, elongated scratch from a fingernail at the corner of his eye.
Song Yue merely glanced at him and pretended not to notice. Instead, she exclaimed in delighted surprise, “It really is a new one. Huaiye, thank you. You’re so kind!”
Wen Huaiye set the device aside. “I’m glad you like it. Yueyue…”
“Hmm?”
He seemed to have something to say, but the moment he saw Song Yue’s face, he could not bring himself to utter a word.
“Nothing. Rest well in the hospital these next few days. Things are rather busy at my company, so I may not be able to come and keep you company.”
Song Yue gave him a sweet smile. “Of course the company is more important. I’m not so inconsiderate as to cling to you.”
Wen Huaiye had breakfast with Song Yue. Only after she closed her eyes and fell asleep did he hurry away.
Silence settled over the hospital room.
Song Yue, who had seemingly fallen into a deep sleep, slowly opened her eyes.
She got straight out of bed and walked outside.
This was a renowned private hospital in River City. Its strict confidentiality and high standard of service had earned the unanimous approval of the city’s wealthy merchants.
The moment she stepped out of the room, a nurse hurried over.
“Miss Song, is there anything you need?”
Song Yue replied, “I’m just taking a walk.”
“Would you like someone to accompany you?”
“No need!”
Her expression was cold, and the nurse did not dare press her further.
The tempers of these wealthy people were worse than one another. Mere wage slaves like them would never dare offend a young heiress.
The nurse put on her most professional smile, turned, and left.
Song Yue strolled along slowly until she reached the stairwell.
This floor held VIP rooms, while the floor above was reserved for the Shen family’s private use. Both its facilities and security were several levels superior to those below.
According to the information sent by the organization, all security personnel on the upper floor would be withdrawn that evening. Even the most basic identification systems would be disabled.
She followed the stairs upward.
Although the wards on that floor were brightly lit, the place was deserted. There was not a single nurse or doctor in sight.
The doors, which had originally been fitted with identification systems, now stood wide open.
Song Yue did not linger. Following the information she had received, she walked straight toward the ward.
This entire floor had later been specially renovated by Shen Bei for a woman.
Ning Feifei.
Shen Bei’s first love.
Four years ago, Ning Feifei had been in a car accident and become a vegetable.

And seven days ago, Ning Feifei had awakened.
Song Yue soon found Ning Feifei’s ward.
It was enormous, occupying nearly half the floor.
The door stood slightly ajar, but inside was pitch-black.
Had she arrived too late? Had something already happened to Ning Feifei?
Song Yue quickened her pace and pushed the door open. The moment she stepped inside, a club came swinging straight at her.
If she had not undergone years of training abroad, that blow would certainly have ended her life there and then.
She twisted aside, narrowly avoiding the strike.
The next second, the club came after her again.
The open ward door let in a sliver of light, allowing Song Yue to see the person wielding it as she dodged.
“Ning Feifei?”
She called out instinctively.
The person dressed in a hospital gown, wielding a club she had found God knew where with astonishing force—if not Ning Feifei, then who could she be?
A bandage was wrapped around Ning Feifei’s eyes. After lying in the hospital for several years, she had grown frighteningly thin, her face reduced almost to bone.
Yet her presence had not diminished in the slightest. With her chin slightly raised, she pointed the club at Song Yue.
“Who are you?”
