Lu Qiuyi was a bit stunned by He Jingyue’s words.
He dismissed Yang Shan’s accusations so casually? Without even asking her a single question?
Lu Qiuyi quickly suppressed the storm raging in her heart and put on a stern face as she spoke to the now collapsed Yang Shan on the ground, “Ms. Yang, please wait here. Security will be here shortly.”
The black Rolls-Royce Phantom drove away smoothly. Inside the cabin, silence reigned, broken only by the faint hum of the air conditioning.
Lu Qiuyi sat in the front passenger seat, focusing inwardly, trying to minimize her presence, though her mind churned like a turbulent sea.
From the back seat came He Jingyue’s calm, unruffled voice, breaking the silence: “Assistant Lu.”
“Yes, President He,” Lu Qiuyi responded immediately, her heart leaping to her throat.
“It seems you are quite adept at using your postcard,” He Jingyue said with no hint of anger or pleasure in his voice.
Lu Qiuyi’s heart skipped a beat.
Is he referring to what happened at the restaurant entrance after the incident?
She hurried to explain, “President He, the situation was special at the time…”
“No need to explain,” He Jingyue interrupted, still calm, “I only look at results. The result is, you successfully exercised your authority and prevented irrelevant personnel from interfering in a critical setting.”
Lu Qiuyi was unsure whether he was praising or criticizing her.
He Jingyue shifted tone, hinting with a trace of meaning: “However, Assistant Lu, power is a double-edged sword. If wielded well, it’s a sharp blade that clears obstacles; if misused, the backlash can come faster and more painfully than you imagine. What do you think?”
Was he speaking about Yang Shan? Or warning her?
Lu Qiuyi felt a chill run down her spine.
“What you said is true, President He,” Lu Qiuyi tried to keep her voice steady, “I will remember your advice carefully.”
He Jingyue said no more, closing his eyes again as if their suggestive conversation had been a figment of her imagination.
Lu Qiuyi had expected He Jingyue to take her back to the company, but the car stopped in front of a golf club instead.
Since Lu Qiuyi didn’t play golf, she tried to avoid the situation: “President He, if this is where you want to be dropped off, I’ll head back to the company now.”
It was perfect timing to meet Lin Xiaoyu and the others for hotpot.
He Jingyue made no reply, only letting his attendant lead her to the changing room.

Alright, looks like I’m going to be a caddy, Lu Qiuyi thought regretfully.
Stepping out of the changing room, sunlight bathed the perfectly manicured lawn, and the air was fresh and invigorating.
Lu Qiuyi wore a white polo shirt and khaki golf pants provided by the club, trailing obediently behind He Jingyue.
He Jingyue had changed into a tailored white sports outfit, sunglasses shading his deep eyes.
The light was not too strong, so Lu Qiuyi naturally assumed he was just trying to look cool.
Then she saw He Jingyue swing his club smoothly; the white ball traced a graceful arc and landed precisely on the distant fairway.
Lu Qiuyi thought: Well, you do look handsome.
So, being good at golf is impressive, huh?
“President He, you’re in high spirits,” a familiar voice behind her made her spine instantly tense.
No way, could she really run into him here?
Lu Qiuyi stiffened as she turned around and saw Lu Mingxuan giving her a warning look.
Without his reminder, she knew she must not reveal her identity.
He Jingyue slowly lowered his club, turning with an impeccable smile: “Chairman Lu, joining us for a game?”
His gaze lingered momentarily on Lu Mingxuan, then casually swept over Lu Qiuyi, who was trying to shrink into herself: “Just bringing my assistant out to relax a bit, balancing work and leisure.”
“Oh? So this young lady is President He’s favorite aide. Truly young and talented,” Lu Mingxuan said with a kindly smile, as if meeting a junior for the first time.
He Jingyue added, “My assistant’s surname is also Lu.”
Lu Mingxuan’s eyes flickered slightly, and his smile deepened: “What a coincidence. Looks like I have a connection with Assistant Lu.”
“Assistant Lu is very capable,” He Jingyue’s lips curved with a meaningful smile, “she’s helped me a lot.”
Lu Qiuyi’s scalp tingled; she wished she could disappear into a crack on the ground.
She felt like a fish on the chopping block, caught in the gaze of two powerful men.
He Jingyue clearly wasn’t finished. He took Lu Qiuyi and deliberately approached the gentlemen they had greeted earlier.
“President He, who is this?” A tall, refined gentleman stepped forward, his gaze gentle but probing as it settled on Lu Qiuyi.

“Chairman Li, let me introduce you. This is my special project assistant, Lu Qiuyi,” He Jingyue said naturally.
He used “Qiuyi,” a more intimate form of address, which startled her.
What a burden.
“Chairman Li, it’s an honor to meet you,” Lu Qiuyi quickly composed herself and bowed slightly.
She knew Huasheng Capital was one of the potential key investors in He Corporation’s “Intelligent Speech” project.
“Assistant Lu, so young and promising. To be by President He’s side, you must have exceptional talent,” Li Mingyuan smiled warmly as he extended his hand.
A man of vast experience, he saw through Lu Qiuyi’s nervousness, but He Jingyue’s personal introduction carried weight.
“Chairman Li, you flatter me. I’m still learning,” Lu Qiuyi thought bitterly as the compliment weighed heavily on her shoulders, “I’m just thinking from an ordinary user’s perspective.”
“Sometimes, ordinary thinking is more accurate than professional analysis!” another man with graying hair and vigorous demeanor spoke up.
He was Zhou Zhenbang, the head of the traditional manufacturing giant Hengrui Group.
He looked at Lu Qiuyi kindly, with the benevolence of an elder: “Don’t be nervous, young lady. Since President He brought you here, it means he recognizes your ability. Sometimes, we old folks are too professional and lose sight of the user’s perspective. Your outsider’s viewpoint is precious.”
Though their conversation seemed casual, it was full of probing and courting. He Jingyue bringing a young female assistant to such a setting was itself a signal.
In their eyes, Lu Qiuyi was not just He Jingyue’s assistant but possibly an extension of his stance, even a “potential asset” worth investing in or winning over.
Lu Qiuyi did her best to respond, somewhat clumsily but with humble sincerity, showing proper manners.
He Jingyue watched quietly from the side, his eyes behind dark glasses inscrutable. Occasionally, he interjected to guide the conversation and deftly helped Lu Qiuyi out of tight spots.
He noticed that although she was nervous facing these real powerhouses, there was a stubborn earnestness in her eyes—a genuine effort to do well, unlike the fear and suppression she showed before Lu Mingxuan.
It was time for He Jingyue and Lu Mingxuan to tee off in the same group.
He Jingyue’s swing remained elegant and precise, as if the earlier socializing had just been a warm-up. Lu Mingxuan appeared distracted, his shots unsatisfactory several times.
“Chairman Lu seems preoccupied,” He Jingyue asked casually, lightly prodding the grass at his feet with his club.
