Chapter 60: The Most Awkward Moment in Life

After finishing their meal and heading to the company, Lin Xi sat in the passenger seat, glancing sideways at the scratches on Ye Huan's face, and asked with immense amusement:

"How did you know Mom tamed the porridge?"

"With an intellect on the level of open-crotch baby pants, your mother has no real wisdom," Ye Huan said dismissively. "Playing games with me? Way too amateur!"

Lin Xi's delicate brows furrowed slightly. "She is my mother. I hope you can show her a little bit of respect."

"Should I salute her every time we meet?" Ye Huan asked.

Lin Xi was utterly defeated by Ye Huan's bizarre logic, but she didn't dwell on the topic. She knew very well that until her mother showed Ye Huan sufficient respect, Ye Huan would never respect her mother.

Just then, her phone rang.

"It's Shen Huamei!"

Lin Xi glanced at the caller ID but didn't answer. Instead, she looked at Ye Huan and said:

"There's something I didn't tell you. Shen Huamei begged me to intercede with you on behalf of the Shen family. Since she's calling now, she must be asking for the result. What should I say?"

Ye Huan thought for a moment. "Take a photo of my face and send it to her. Tell her you beat me up like this, and no matter what, I refuse to forgive her."

Lin Xi immediately answered the call and spouted the nonsense Ye Huan had suggested. After hanging up, she took a photo of Ye Huan's scratched face and sent it to Shen Huamei.

Meanwhile, inside the Shen family villa.

Shen Mingxuan, along with his father Shen Lin and mother Xue Fengmei, looked anxiously at Shen Huamei.

"To help me, Xixi scratched up Ye Huan's face, but no matter what, Ye Huan refuses to forgive me."

Shen Huamei showed her parents and brother the photo Lin Xi had sent, her voice carrying a hint of tears as she said:

"Dad, Mom, Brother, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. If I hadn't mocked and humiliated Ye Huan, our family wouldn't have ended up like this."

Shen Lin slammed his hand onto the table and raged:

"That pig-butcher is nothing more than a petty scoundrel!"

Xue Fengmei, the mother of Shen Mingxuan and Shen Huamei, added angrily:

"That pig-butcher is too narrow-minded. Huamei only said a few words to him! How could he be so cruel and merciless? He's trying to ruin our family and the Shen Corporation!"

"I really want to slaughter that pig-butcher!" Shen Mingxuan said viciously. "The problem is, even if we slaughter Ye Huan, it still won't stop the First Tower's sanctions against the Shen family."

Shen Lin nodded. He looked at Shen Huamei and instructed:

"Huamei, contact Lin Xi and tell her that I'm inviting Ye Huan to dinner this afternoon. Ask her to persuade Ye Huan and make sure he honors us with his presence."

Shen Huamei quickly called Lin Xi. As soon as she finished speaking, she heard Ye Huan's voice from the other end:

"That damn pig-butcher has zero respect for me! I think he has a death wish!"

Shen Mingxuan said coldly, "If he doesn't have time, I'll go straight to the Lin Corporation to find him."

After Ye Huan and Lin Xi arrived at the Lin Corporation, Ye Huan didn't head to his own workstation; instead, he went straight to Building B.

The Lin Corporation headquarters was divided into Building A and Building B!

The R&D department was located in Building B!

Moreover, the entire Building B was the personal territory of Lin Xi's aunt, Lin Wei!

"What are you doing here?"

Just as Ye Huan reached Building B and was about to enter, a cold voice rang out.

Ye Huan turned at the sound and saw a stunning beauty in sportswear walking toward him, looking as though she had just finished a workout.

"Beauty, what's your name? Leave me your contact info, and I'll take you out to dinner tonight."

"Never mind then, I don't play with crazy women!" Ye Huan shrugged, sounding disappointed.

At those words, the temperature on the beauty's face plummeted. She asked coldly:

"This isn't a place where you belong. Get lost!"

"Another one whose temper is bigger than her chest!"

Ye Huan made a playful remark and turned to walk toward the entrance of Building B.

"Stop right there!"

The beauty took a few quick strides, caught up, blocked Ye Huan's path, and said coldly:

"I said, this isn't a place for you. Get lost now, or I won't be polite."

Ye Huan opened his mouth to continue teasing her, but swallowed the words back just as they reached his lips. He said:

"I'm here to find someone."

"Who?" the beauty asked.

"The head of your R&D department, Lin Wei!" Ye Huan replied.

A flash of astonishment crossed the beauty's face. She looked Ye Huan up and down and asked:

"Why are you looking for her? Do you have an appointment?"

"Given the relationship between Lin Wei and me, an appointment isn't necessary!" Ye Huan declared.

The beauty was momentarily stunned. "You're very close to her?"

"Extremely close!" Ye Huan bragged.

"Psychopath!"

The beauty cursed, sounding impatient.

"Get lost already. The R&D department isn't somewhere you can just wander into. If you don't leave right now, I'm going to get rough!"

"I really am close with Lin Wei!" Ye Huan emphasized.

The beauty stared coldly at Ye Huan for three seconds before saying:

"Follow me."

With that, she turned and walked into Building B, subtly pulling out her phone to send a quick text message!

Ye Huan hurried to catch up, following the beauty up to the second floor.

"What kind of place is this?"

At a single glance, Ye Huan saw that the entire second floor was a gymnasium, complete with a fighting ring and other equipment.

The beauty didn't answer.

Moments later, dozens of security guards in uniform came running over in a rush.

"Beat him within an inch of his life!" the beauty said expressionlessly.

"Yes!"

Dozens of security guards swarmed toward Ye Huan like a tidal wave!

"Wait!"

Ye Huan shouted at the top of his lungs:

"I'm here to see Lin Wei! What is the meaning of this?"

"I am Lin Wei!"

The beauty stated coldly:

"I don't know you at all. You look shifty and suspicious—clearly no good. Are you a corporate spy sent by a rival company?"

Well, that was awkward, my friend!

Heaven and earth as my witness, Ye Huan had never encountered such an embarrassing moment in his entire life. He had actually stood right in front of Lin Wei and bragged about how close he was to her.

Still, this wasn't the time to be embarrassed. Ye Huan quickly tried to explain:

"I'm not a spy, I'm—"

Lin Wei cut him off expressionlessly, giving the order:

"Beat him! Beat him half to death and throw him into the furthest dumpster you can find!"

Dozens of security guards charged at Ye Huan once more!

"Fine, let's just treat this as a morning workout!"

Ye Huan shrugged. Without hesitation, he took the initiative and strode toward the guards, taking them down one by one with a single kick each. Not a single guard was a match for him.

"Oh? So you're actually a martial arts expert! No wonder you dared to swagger in here looking for me all by yourself!"

A cold glint flashed in Lin Wei's eyes. She rushed forward toward Ye Huan at high speed and shouted:

"All of you, back off! Let me handle him!"
