One by one.
Lin Jiuge looked at the two boys who were as obedient as quails. One of them actually didn't bare his teeth or brandish his claws. Then she looked at her master with a serious expression. At her age, she was supposed to be going through a rebellious phase, right? Weren't they worried about what she might do? How could they be so at ease?
"Ahem, as for the items, your martial uncle has already collected them for you. Don't worry, just these two." Seeing her gaze, as if she could see right through him, Li Yun couldn't help feeling a guilty conscience.
"Martial uncle collected the items for me? Shouldn't that be senior brother's job?" Lin Jiuge turned to look at Zhou Yan, who was thoroughly enjoying the show from the side.
Zhou Yan! He was enjoying the spectacle immensely when a scapegoat suddenly dropped from the sky onto him, and he couldn't even refute it.
"Your senior brother can go with you. After all, your martial uncle is offering a flowing silver mine," Li Yun said. If it were ordinary loot, he would have brushed it off, but it was ore. If he remembered correctly, Lin Jiuge's golden sword could devour ores.
"Jiuge, Jiuge, I want it! Say yes!" An unnamed sword spirit scribbled frantically within her sea of consciousness. If anyone could peer into Lin Jiuge's sea of consciousness, they would likely be astounded by just how vast it was!
"This once," Lin Jiuge compromised. Who made her the one raising an ancestor that demanded all sorts of rare ores?
"Alright, the two of them are handed over to you and your senior brother." Li Yun breathed a sigh of relief. The air pressure surrounding Lin Jiuge while she was fighting on behalf of her younger sister had not fully dissipated yet, and even Li Yun felt genuinely intimidated after spending too much time with her.
"Introduce yourselves," Lin Jiuge looked at the two boys.
"Disciple Lei Lingxiao pays respects to Master," Lei Lingxiao saluted obediently. His grand-uncle had explicitly told him that if he failed to learn properly, his legs would be broken!
"Disciple Zhang Boyu pays respects to Master," Zhang Boyu said with trembling trepidation. Considering how hostile he had been to her little sister, and his grandfather's warning that if he didn't make Lin Jiuge look at him in a new light, his grandfather would throw him into the mines to dig ore! Especially since his father, whose cultivation level was vastly superior to Lin Jiuge's, hadn't managed to gain any advantage under her hands—thinking about his future days made Zhang Boyu's outlook rather bleak.
"Lei Lingxiao, Zhang Boyu." Lin Jiuge now officially knew the two kids.
"Yes."
"You don't need to do anything on your first day. You have writing brushes, ink, paper, and an inkstone, right?" Lin Jiuge asked.
"Yes." The two boys didn't understand, but they nodded honestly.
"Go and copy *Don't Get Angry* one hundred times." Lin Jiuge dismissed the two kids.
"Master, what is that?" The two boys looked at Lin Jiuge in bewilderment.
"Never heard of it? Well, this right here. The two of you will diligently copy this today. Remember, copy it carefully." Lin Jiuge emphasized.
Having said that, Lin Jiuge left, as she still had her daily cultivation to attend to.
"Junior sister, what was that?" Zhou Yan asked out of curiosity from the side.
"That thing? I heard about it in the mortal realm. Whenever Jiucheng used to make me angry, I would copy it once." Lin Jiuge paused and replied. Copying was also a way to calm herself down.
"When was that? Jiucheng is so well-behaved, why would you need to copy that?" Zhou Yan asked curiously, instinctively refuting the idea. In Zhou Yan's heart, Lin Jiucheng had always been an adorable little kid.
Lin Jiuge glanced at Zhou Yan without a word and resumed her daily routine of practicing basic sword forms. Through her spar with Zhang Xianglin, Lin Jiuge had discovered more of her shortcomings, and she needed to step up her training.
What should you do when your junior sister is a cultivation maniac? What else could you do? Zhou Yan would show you with practical experience: following your junior sister in training was guaranteed to be the right choice. Nowadays, his hand gestures were getting faster and faster, and even his speed in learning formations had improved considerably, though his eyesight sometimes couldn't quite keep up. In response, his junior sister had affectionately suggested that he practice picking up beans. First red and yellow beans, then red, yellow, and green, followed by two kinds of beans with very similar shades of yellow. Although it was agonizingly torturous, the results were unmistakable.
While Lin Jiuge was practicing her basic sword forms, Lei Lingxiao, whose arms were sore, came out and saw her practicing basic movements. Puzzled, he watched in silence. Seeing Lei Lingxiao come out, Zhang Boyu, who had long been unable to sit still, also emerged and witnessed the same scene. Weren't these basic things supposed to be mastered already? Why did she practice them every single day?
The two of them counted: Lin Jiuge executed three thousand strikes with her left hand and three thousand with her right. After finishing, she put down her sword and immediately began practicing palm techniques. The more Lei Lingxiao watched, the brighter his eyes shone. His master's palm technique carried the momentum of rolling thunder.
"Junior brother, is this why you asked for my help?" The Revered Master Wulei stood suspended in mid-air, having naturally watched Zhou Yan execute a round of palm techniques earlier, but Lin Jiuge's execution was far more proficient. He could clearly see lightning flickering across Lin Jiuge's arms. It was practically better than all his own disciples combined! How on earth did such a fine talent end up being taken as a disciple by that bumbling fool Li Yun?!
"Not bad at all. What do you think? My disciple is amazing, right?" Even though Li Yun rarely praised Lin Jiuge to her face, he never missed a chance to brag about her behind her back to his fellow martial brothers.
"Mediocre." Revered Master Wulei glanced at his grand-nephew watching from the side, hoping the boy could actually learn something and thereby honor his prematurely deceased father and uncle.
Lin Jiuge put away her fist techniques and found herself facing two pairs of sparkling eyes.
"You two, are you finished writing?" Lin Jiuge asked with a displeased tone.
"Master, we just came out to catch some fresh air. We'll go write right now," Lei Lingxiao replied. He felt that the master his grand-uncle had chosen for him was simply the most suitable one.
Lin Jiuge didn't notice Zhang Xianglin looking at her as if he had seen a ghost. Instead, she went to check on her lovely younger sister, hoping the child hadn't been left with psychological trauma that made her unwilling to study talismans anymore; otherwise, she would feel she was failing her martial uncle.
Naturally, Lin Jiucheng suffered no psychological trauma. Having been heavily praised by her little friends, her tiny vanity had been satisfied, and she was now studying very earnestly—especially talismans, vowing that next time she would definitely be able to dodge them.
Lin Jiuge didn't disturb her martial uncle's lecture; seeing that her sister was fine, she left.
In the afternoon, Lei Lingxiao came out for some fresh air again and watched *Swift Steps*, feeling an even deeper yearning. This was something her master had created herself—how formidable! He could do it too. Zhang Boyu was equally dumbfounded by Lin Jiuge's display. It was just too incredible!
That afternoon, Zhou Yan changed locations to pick beans, separating them into two categories. At some point, Lin Jiucheng wandered over to watch Zhou Yan from the side without disturbing him.
After a short while, Lin Jiucheng left to find her elder sister, wanting to play this game too. To humor her, Lin Jiuge gave her a small winnowing basket.
The older and younger sisters sat facing each other, picking beans without disturbing each other. Before long, Zhou Yan heard a sound and looked over to see Lin Jiucheng dumping all the beans back together.
"Jiucheng, are you not picking them anymore?" Zhou Yan asked good-naturedly.
"No, senior brother, I've already picked them all. I'm mixing them back up to pick them again," Lin Jiucheng replied, shaking her head with a milky voice.
"You picked them all? How did you do it?" Zhou Yan asked with a hint of curiosity.
"Like this." After mixing them up, Lin Jiucheng focused solely on the darkest red beans, shaking the basket a couple of times every now and then. Once the red beans were completely picked out, only the yellow beans remained, and Lin Jiucheng poured them into another empty bowl.
Zhou Yan! It was that simple?! Then what had his hands suffered for all this time?!
"Jiucheng, tell senior brother, how did you come up with this method?" Zhou Yan's voice was slightly trembling.
"Shouldn't they be picked like this? Elder sister said to take it one step at a time."
