4. Cultivation Techniques
How could his disciple be troubled by mundane matters?
“Master, I can manage it, but my younger sister cannot endure it for long. So, Master, it’s best if you sense the location of the kitchen or dining hall,” Lin Jiugo said as she took the fruit. Considering nutrition, she could be a bit rough on herself, but not for her sister.
“Very well, you focus on your cultivation. As for the kitchen, leave it to me to handle!” The very first thing the master did after accepting a disciple was to arrange a kitchen for her! If his senior and junior brothers found out, they’d have plenty to mock him for—how infuriating!
“Thank you, Master. Master, Uncle, I take my leave,” Lin Jiugo bowed respectfully.
“Go ahead.”
Lin Jiugo chose a room, took her sister inside, and each bit into a fruit. It was quite sweet, and soon their hunger subsided.
“Little blessing, are you still hungry?” Lin Jiugo looked at Lin Xici, who was munching with juice all over her mouth.
“No.”
“Then little blessing, take a nap.” Lin Jiugo expertly wiped her sister’s mouth and gently coaxed her to sleep. Although her master was somewhat rough, at least the room was decently arranged.
“You brute, if I’m not mistaken, the room your nephew entered was arranged by Junior Sister Wujing,” said Dao Yuan Zun, raising his eyebrows.
“It’s just a room. Besides, Wujing has been in seclusion for years. She has her own place. I don’t understand why she insists on decorating our courtyard,” Li Yun, the straightforward one, complained.
“Brute,” Dao Yuan Zun calmly uttered two words. Junior Sister even flirted with the blind man.
“Old bookworm, you—” Li Yun was exasperated.
“I shall continue my research. You’d better build a kitchen for your nephew,” Dao Yuan Zun said as he closed the door, his voice lingering.
Li Yun was left stomping in frustration.
Meanwhile, Lin Jiugo, gently putting her sister to sleep, took out a thin booklet and began reading. Fortunately, the text was consistent.
Closing the book, Lin Jiugo roughly understood her surroundings: a continent called the Azure Continent where cultivation relied on primal energy. Her hometown was at the lowest level—ordinary people who could not cultivate but practiced some external martial arts to strengthen their bodies. The next tier allowed cultivation, divided into five ranks: Wu Fan, Lian Fan, Ming Fan, Tui Fan, and Hua Fan. After these five, the next ranks were Huang Realm, Xingyun Mysterious Realm, Transcendent Earth Realm, and Ethereal Heaven Realm. Beyond that were the Sage Awakening, Wisdom Sage, and Dao Enlightenment Sage ranks—three levels existing on the continent. Higher ranks would ascend to another continent.
Her master likely belonged to the Wisdom Sage rank. According to cultivation methods, there were warriors and sorcerers, with different titles. Her master was a Dou Zun (Combat Venerable), while her uncle was a sorcerer titled Yuan Zun (Primordial Venerable).
Her primary focus was the golden sword that had suddenly appeared to save her in dire straits—a guardian sword among the ten famous swords, the only one that chose its master. Yet, Lin Jiugo touched her brow, recalling the scene.
She had thought of guarding, then remembered that when she practiced swordsmanship as a child, she had a sword in her right hand—one not listed among the ten famous swords.
She had swung two swords in all; the first was that unknown sword. Importantly, that sword now resided in her spiritual sea, arrogantly occupying its center! Though she could store the golden sword in her dantian, she knew she could not bond with it!
Setting the book aside, Lin Jiugo rubbed her brow. She would take one step at a time. As for the small pouch, she assumed it was decorative and set it aside.
Elsewhere, Li Yun stood by the Sword Testing Stone, examining two overlapping sword marks—one to the left, one to the right. Indeed, the other sword was the River Sword, and it was incredibly domineering.
After lingering a while longer, Li Yun concealed the sword marks and left. He needed to study how to build a kitchen for his disciple!
The next day, Lin Jiugo rose early, tidied Lin Xici, and tied her to her back. Upon entering the courtyard, Li Yun was already there.
“Ah, Jiugo, what’s the little one’s name again?”
“Lin Xici. Master, you can call her ‘Little Blessing.’”
“Hand little blessing over to me. I’ll hold her for you.”
“Master, if you hold little blessing like this, she won’t be comfortable.” Lin Jiugo passed her sister to her master and instructed him how to hold a child properly.
Good, he hadn’t taught his disciple the first lesson yet, but the disciple was already teaching him how to hold a baby.
“All set? Go to that peach tree and see the peach wood sword. Practice five hundred swings each with your left and right hand using this posture,” Li Yun’s phantom demonstrated, though holding the child impaired his performance.
“Yes, Master.” Though puzzled, Lin Jiugo complied.
Under the peach tree, she drew the peach wood sword. Her left hand smoothly completed five hundred basic chops, but her right hand struggled immensely.
“She’s left-handed,” Dao Yuan Zun appeared mysteriously and praised Lin Jiugo.
“Her right hand should be as proficient as her left. That way, she won’t have a weakness.”
“Are you going to teach her dual-handed swordsmanship?” Dao Yuan Zun asked.
“Why not?” Li Yun smirked. He truly had good intentions.
“What about the cultivation method? What do you plan to teach her?” Dao Yuan Zun pondered suitable techniques.
“The cultivation method? The golden sword’s master needs me to teach the method. All I can offer is experiential guidance,” Li Yun rolled his eyes at Dao Yuan Zun, lowering his voice and gently patting the restless Lin Xici.
“Fair enough.” The ten famous swords came with their own methods. The golden sword’s technique was finally about to be revealed. He wondered whether his nephew would mind if he studied it.
“By the way, is your nephew a River Spirit Talent?” Dao Yuan Zun asked.
Li Yun averted his gaze, seemingly having forgotten.
“Brute, surely you haven’t forgotten?” Dao Yuan Zun, who knew Li Yun well, discerned from subtle gestures.
“Cough, those are illusions. All techniques are illusory before me,” Li Yun feigned calm.
“What did you use when you built a kitchen for your disciple?” Dao Yuan Zun scoffed.
After Lin Jiugo finished five hundred swings with her right hand, it trembled violently, and her body reached a limit, shaking uncontrollably.
“Jiugo, sit cross-legged under the peach tree and cultivate the golden sword’s heart method.” Li Yun didn’t argue with Dao Yuan Zun and quickly instructed his disciple.
He hadn’t expected Lin Jiugo to complete such a foundation in so short a time.
Lin Jiugo was filled with question marks. The golden sword’s heart method? What was that?
Before she could dwell on it, the sword in her spiritual sea emitted rays of light. A cultivation method transformed into flowing light, flickering at her brow.
“Slaughter God,” two characters that spoke of the method’s overpowering nature. Soon, the technique became flowing light, drawing primal energy from the outside world, constantly surging through Lin Jiugo’s meridians.
“Is the golden sword’s heart method really this fierce?” Dao Yuan Zun was surprised. His analysis differed—he had carefully studied the ten famous swords’ inherent methods. The golden sword, as the guardian sword, should have a gentle technique. Yet, Lin Jiugo’s expression betrayed no gentleness.
Lin Jiugo could only passively follow the technique’s flow, daring not to be distracted. Her cultivation path was chaotic and disordered. No, she needed to seize the initiative!
