The explanation given by Renya Hospital was that Qin Lang had long since signed a body donation agreement. This was true, and Yu Xiangsi was aware of it. Qin Lang was always a compassionate person, willing to continue contributing to medicine even after death.

While this explanation was plausible, Yu Xiangsi’s doubts remained unresolved. It wasn’t until the hospital revealed the cause of Qin Lang’s death that she became certain it was not an accident.

The hospital stated that Qin Lang had made a critical error at work, mistakenly administering penicillin to a patient who was allergic to it. This was a grave medical malpractice, and overwhelmed by guilt, Qin Lang had taken his own life.

Nonetheless, the hospital deeply mourned Qin Lang’s death and was willing to bear the costs, offering financial compensation to his family.

But Qin Lang could never have committed suicide. Qin Shuyue was in poor health and needed medication constantly; if Qin Lang died, Qin Shuyue would not be able to survive either.

After arranging Qin Lang’s funeral, Yu Xiangsi went to the hospital to retrieve his belongings. However, upon arriving at Renya Hospital, she encountered a man attempting to jump from the rooftop.

The man ran up to the rooftop, wild-eyed, shouting, “We have all been killed, all harmed by Renya!” After uttering those words, he turned and leapt down.

Security guards quickly dispersed the onlookers. The official explanation was that the man suffered from mental illness, compounded by the recent death of his mother, which caused his breakdown and subsequent suicide.

But Yu Xiangsi instinctively felt this was not so simple. She later contacted the deceased man’s younger brother.

Only then did she learn that their mother had died at the hospital two months prior. She had undergone a simple gallstone surgery but ultimately died from an infection.

After her death, the hospital quickly admitted their mistake and offered compensation—a very substantial sum.

Yu Xiangsi frowned, realizing Qin Lang had also received a generous compensation package. Yet Qin Shuyue had refused to accept it, firmly believing her son would never commit suicide and insisted on reporting it to the police.

The hospital sent representatives to pressure Qin Shuyue, subtly and overtly urging her to stop making trouble and to settle matters quietly, warning that continuing would damage the hospital’s reputation and do her no good.

By then, it was clear that Renya Hospital was hiding secrets, and Qin Lang’s death was definitely not accidental.

However, the police investigation soon concluded that Qin Lang’s death was indeed a suicide.

Even though the hospital claimed that on the day of the incident, the hospital’s surveillance equipment was undergoing upgrades and maintenance, rendering all footage unusable, and even though Qin Lang had no sufficient reason to take his own life,

there was no evidence of foul play on the scene or on the body. With no other options, the case was hastily closed as a suicide.

Yu Xiangsi refused to accept this verdict. She went to the police station every day, repeatedly insisting that Qin Lang could not have killed himself.

But no one paid her any heed.

Meanwhile, due to her prolonged absences from school, she had already received warnings. Qin Shuyue’s health deteriorated rapidly, her mind unraveling until she could no longer distinguish reality from illusion.

The weight of Qin Lang’s death, the pressures of life, and Qin Shuyue’s declining condition all bore down heavily on Yu Xiangsi.

After a month of struggling, Yu Xiangsi made a decision: she accepted the hospital’s compensation and left An City.

She took Qin Shuyue back to Su City and used the settlement money to place her in a top-notch nursing home for treatment.

She resolved to investigate on her own.

In truth, it was not difficult. Renya Hospital was hiding secrets. A hospital of such scale could not possibly keep everything under wraps. She spent an entire year probing into the hospital’s mysteries.

For this, she abandoned her medical studies and switched to computer science.

Her year of investigation was not in vain. Renya Hospital catered to a high-end clientele and boasted exceptional cure rates. Many patients who had failed to recover elsewhere found healing there.

Many of these cases involved organ failure.

At this point, Yu Xiangsi already understood the secret Renya Hospital concealed. Then she uncovered another secret connected to Qin Lang.

This revelation ignited a furious fire within her. Whereas initially she had sought only to uncover the truth behind Qin Lang’s death and not let him die in vain, now her goal transformed into vengeance.

She vowed to avenge Qin Lang. All those who harmed him, who wronged him, would pay the price.
