Yu Xiangsi’s emotions churned, her face pale and her whole body trembling. No matter how much time passed, thinking of Qin Lang’s death, she could never find peace.

“Sister Xiangsi,” Tan Kai called out, “are you... are you alright?”

Yu Xiangsi took a deep breath, striving to calm her racing heart, and spoke hoarsely, “I’m fine. I’m okay.”

She was fine because she still had to watch those people pay the price.

Wasn’t the Qiao family hoping to revive Qiao Motors? Then she would make sure all their wishes came to nothing.

A phone rang—it was the call Yu Xiangsi had deliberately set for Ji Jing. She inhaled deeply and answered.

“Where are you?” Ji Jing asked bluntly, his tone displeased. “It’s the weekend. Where did you go so early?”

Ji Jing was a man with a strong sense of male pride. He admired Yu Xiangsi’s abilities but also demanded to be the first in her heart.

Yu Xiangsi spoke gently, “I went back to get some clothes. I’ll be back soon.”

“Mm, hurry back. There’s a gathering this afternoon; you’re coming with me.”

“Okay, I’m on my way,” she replied obediently.

Yu Xiangsi hung up without expression, then looked at Tan Kai. “I have to go. Don’t act rashly. Be careful in the hospital; under no circumstances expose yourself.”

In their plan, Tan Kai was the key figure. He must never be exposed prematurely.

Tan Kai nodded. “Don’t worry, Sister Xiangsi. I’ll be careful.” His eyes glinted coldly. “I won’t reveal myself until those people have paid.”

Yu Xiangsi stood and left, returning to her apartment.

---

Ji Jing sat in the living room, his expression cold and clearly upset, his face stern.

To be honest, Ji Jing was handsome—his refined features were pleasing to the eye.

Yu Xiangsi took a deep breath, walked over, and sat beside him, linking her arm through his. “Are you angry?” She leaned in to study his expression. He glanced at her sideways without a word, so she said, “Hmm, you’re angry. You’re mad at me.”

Ji Jing cast her a cold look. “Do you even care if I’m angry or not?”

He’d woken up that morning and didn’t see her, which put him in a bad mood. He waited a long time for her to return, sent messages that went unanswered, then couldn’t hold back and called her.

Thinking about how he’d waited all morning, and she’d gone out without even telling him, Ji Jing grew angrier.

“You sure left casually, like this place is a hotel? Just up and gone?” he asked sharply.

Yu Xiangsi understood—this young master had been pampered all his life and had never faced cold treatment.

She looped her arm through his again, but he pulled it away. She pressed closer once more, holding on tightly; this time he didn’t push her away.

“I just wanted you to sleep a little longer; you’ve been tired these past few days,” she coaxed.

She swore her words were purely meant to please him, to express concern for his exhaustion, nothing more.

But clearly, the way men and women understood “tired” was entirely different.

Ji Jing smirked faintly, glancing at her sideways. “Me tired? I’ve been watching you work nonstop these days, feeling sorry for you, so I didn’t bother you. So you think I’m the one tired?”

The meeting with Qiao Motors had been postponed several days because they added more demands. Yu Xiangsi had to reorganize the data all over again, busy beyond measure.

Ji Jing wasn’t entirely heartless; seeing her nodding off while eating, the two had shared a rather ‘plain’ night.

---

The rare tenderness from the young master was mistaken by her as him being tired.

That was an insult.

Yu Xiangsi’s cheeks flushed, but Ji Jing had already drawn her into his arms.

She quickly pressed against his chest. “I’m tired. I’m tired. You, young master, are vigorous and full of energy.”

Ji Jing lowered his head and kissed her fiercely, without gentleness. His lips and tongue overwhelmed her, stealing her breath and leaving her mind blank. Yu Xiangsi felt a sharp sting—he had bitten her lip.

His forehead rested against hers. “Don’t sneak away again, or else...”

He left the threat unsaid, but the meaning was clear.

Yu Xiangsi chuckled softly, wrapping her arms around his neck affectionately. “You’re here; where else could I run to?”

That pleased him visibly. His expression softened, then he kissed her even more fiercely.

Seeing things headed in an unhealthy direction, Yu Xiangsi hastily pushed him back. “Wait... isn’t there a gathering?”

Ji Jing replied indifferently, “In the afternoon. There’s still time.”

He was always domineering, never allowing refusal.

That day, Yu Xiangsi and Ji Jing were late to the gathering. When they left, it was already past five o’clock, the event having started at three and well underway.
