Chapter 59 Revealing Strength Lightly
Xingchenzi and Yufan followed Jian Yichen as they slowly walked toward the place where incantations were taught.
Eventually, they arrived at an area where numerous disciples stood, uniformly dressed in robes adorned with three vine-beaded emblems, which served as the unique insignia of the Incantation Sect.
After simply washing her face, Fang Yu headed toward the grounds of the Incantation Sect.
"Damn it, I still don't have the Incantation Sect's exclusive robe!" Jian Yichen muttered, turning around in a daze as he looked at Xingchenzi and Yufan. "If we don't wear the robes, we'll be punished. Oh well, forget it, let's just go."
Yufan glanced back slowly and spotted a hazy figure in the distance, who appeared to be a senior sister.
A moments later...
"Senior sister, you're here!" Yufan greeted her warmly.
Just as Yufan's words trailed off, the hazy figure gradually grew clear. It was none other than Yun Qianruo, the gentle and lovely senior sister of the Incantation Sect. She wore a robe embroidered with three vine beads, her sleeves fluttering lightly in the breeze, making her look as fresh and refined as a newly bloomed lily in the morning light. A tender smile danced in Yun Qianruo's eyes as she hurried forward, gently touching Yufan's hair, and said softly, "Hello, Yufan, Xingchenzi, and Miss Fang."
Seeing this, Jian Yichen hurriedly sidled up beside them, flashing a cheeky grin as he chimed in, "Hello there, Miss Fang? Did you miss me?"
"Do not be unruly, Jian Yichen," the young woman said softly.
"Got it," Jian Yichen mumbled under his breath.
"Thank you for your concern, Brother Jian, I'm doing well," Yun Qianruo replied upon hearing this.
"Hello everyone, my name is Weiyu. I'm very glad to meet you. I already heard your names from the little junior brother. I'll lead you to the Incantation Pavilion."
"Thank you so much..."
Passing through the long, winding corridor of the Incantation Pavilion, the three of them entered the most magnificent circular practice arena in the Incantation Sect.
Sunlight poured down through the gaps in the high dome, illuminating the entire space with brilliant clarity.
Various talismans and incantations were neatly laid out across the practice ground.
Most eye-catching of all was a massive talisman at the very center, occupying the focal point of the entire arena.
This talisman was woven from countless minute runes, each emitting a faint yet harmonious glow as they linked together, forming a pattern of extreme complexity resembling the trajectories of celestial bodies or the materialized mysteries of the deep universe.
The disciples present used various types of talisman paper, slowly transforming them into all sorts of living creatures. Some failed, while others succeeded...
The group walked side by side into a quaint courtyard filled with the fragrance of flowers. At its center lay a crystal-clear pond where several koi fish swam leisurely, occasionally leaping above the water's surface to trace graceful silver arcs.
"This is the core place where we learn spellcraft—the Incantation Pavilion."
Yun Qianruo's voice was gentle yet full of mystery. She led the two through a stone door carved with intricate incantations, the hinges emitting a low, lingering sound as they turned.
Stepping into the pavilion, a faint scent of sandalwood greeted them. The surrounding walls were covered with various talisman scrolls; some held their radiance inward, while others exuded a faint glow like stars dotting the night sky.
At the center stood a huge stone platform laden with diverse magical instruments and talisman paper.
A side chamber gradually opened before them like a gateway into the abyss of knowledge. Light filtered through the high, narrow window lattice, spilling over mountains of ancient texts and scrolls, each carrying thousands of years of wisdom in the art of talismans and incantations.
The air was thick with the unique scent of aged paper intertwined with a hint of ink.
As Xingchenzi and Yufan stepped into this vast sea of books, curiosity and longing flickered in their eyes.
Their footsteps echoed in the spacious room, each step seeming to tread upon the threads of history.
Yufan gently stroked an ancient tome with a yellowed cover and worn edges, feeling the traces of time beneath his fingertips as an inexplicable surge of excitement rose within his heart.
Meanwhile, Xingchenzi walked straight toward a row of scrolls that appeared even more ancient. Gently unrolling one, he saw that the talismans drawn upon it were intricate and refined, brimming with boundless power that compelled him to gaze intently, attempting to decipher their secrets.
Fang Yu approached a massive stone platform where various magical artifacts and talisman papers were displayed.
Following the runes carved into the stone beside it, she attempted to practice them. However, lacking any foundational knowledge, Fang Yu failed countless times.
Guided by her intuition, Yufan moved slowly forward. The side chamber slowly unfolded before him like a portal to the depths of knowledge, with light streaming through the high, narrow lattice windows to illuminate towering piles of ancient books and scrolls, each preserving the millennia-old wisdom of incantation arts.
Passing through that door, a vast scroll repository presented itself to Yufan, with rows upon rows arranged in orderly fashion.
At the very top of this repository hovered a disc in mid-air, allowing the sunlight to filter gently inward from its edges.
Compared to the chamber shared by Xingchenzi and Fang Yu, this room of Yufan's was vastly larger.
Although their chamber felt more ancient and was steeped in the fragrance of books, it was slightly inferior in scale.
Relying on his intuition, Yufan continued forward at a measured pace, tilting his head up to gaze at the towering shelves of scrolls.
After wandering around, he finally stopped before a section covered in dust, seemingly untouched by anyone for a very long time.
It appeared to be a remnant scroll, yet it bore no resemblance to the Devouring Fire required by the immortals. Yufan pondered it carefully.
Reaching out, Yufan gently picked up the dust-laden scroll.
Its title seemed to have been worn away by the passage of time. He picked it up, found a quiet corner, and examined it closely.
"There are four fires in the world: the first is the Bone Scale Fire, ignited by burning ten thousand bones within scale fire. Known for its ferocious nature and extreme difficulty to control, those who suffer its backlash are reduced to ashes, their very souls scattered like dust. The second is the Myriad Flower Fire, ignited by burning ten thousand blossoms in spring fire. This fire is guarded generation after generation by the clansmen on Myriad Flower Island..."
*So that's how it is,* Yufan thought. *Hmm, are there other fires?*
Yufan flipped to the next page, but found nothing further.
He surmised that this scroll must have a subsequent volume!
"That eccentric old temple keeper's book on the 'Realm-less State' is truly a bit abstruse. Perhaps I can find an explanation for it right here."
Yufan recalled what the old man had said:
"The art of Qi refinement is roughly divided into four stages: the first is Qi Meridians, the second is Qi Intent, the third is Qi Spirit, and the fourth is Qi Zenith.
As for the first, Qi Meridians, and the second, Qi Intent, one can use one's own consciousness to regulate the flow of Qi and thereby control the direction of its manifestation. As for the third, Qi Spirit, it is even more profound; once the divine soul is tranquilized and divine spirit merges as one, one can condense the ambient Qi of heaven and earth, multiplying one's combat power manifold."
The old man had explained in detail:
"The so-called 'One Star Destroys the Realm', as the name implies, can obliterate an entire world; whereas 'Two Stars' are capable of creating an entirely new world.
This cultivation technique is divided into five levels: Half Star, One Star, One and a Half Stars, and the highest level, Two Stars.
The strength of each level differs vastly, but to successfully cultivate it, one must rely on the assistance of the Qi of the Six Meridians."
As for what the Qi of the Six Meridians actually was, Yufan still had no inkling to this day.
