Chapter 7: The Joys of Overtime

Yuan Kai was stunned for a long moment before stammering, “He... he secured a 5 million order?”

Feng Feifei replied, “Yes, didn’t you give him the client information?”

Yuan Kai thought to himself, *The clients I gave him were basically impossible to land. What kind of ridiculous luck is this, stumbling upon an order just by stepping outside? I spent the whole day groveling behind the client just to try to earn a meal!*

“Director Feng, could there be something wrong with this? Given his skills, it’s just impossible—this must be pure luck!” Yuan Kai said anxiously.

Feng Feifei, somewhat disappointed, replied calmly, “Luck is part of ability too, Manager Yuan. This project is the company’s top priority right now, so please give it your full effort.”

Yuan Kai insisted, “I understand, but I’m worried Chen Xiao’s business skills are too weak. We can’t afford to lose this case. Should I take over the follow-up personally?”

“Trust your colleague, Manager Yuan. You should go back and work on the proposal. Oh, and make sure Chen Xiao reviews it since he’s the one liaising with the client and knows their needs. Let him see if any adjustments are necessary.”

Feeling Feng Feifei’s impatience, Yuan Kai could only leave reluctantly.

Now he’s going to get scolded for AFK.

Chen Xiao closed the game and turned around. “Manager Yuan, you must be mistaken. I’m studying product knowledge, see!” He pointed to the study materials on his desk.

“You!” Yuan Kai was furious at Chen Xiao’s arrogance. He regretted not taking a photo as evidence earlier. Now Chen Xiao had no proof against him, and Yuan Kai was powerless.

“Also, Manager Yuan, let me correct you. For the project proposal and pricing, you’ll have to work hard on those—I won’t participate. I’m only responsible for negotiations; writing proposals isn’t my strength! Everyone has their specialty!”

Chen Xiao quickly added, “Manager Yuan, the client has been urging us. Please speed up. I’m reviewing materials here, so stop checking on my study progress!”

Feng Feifei looked at Yuan Kai with some confusion. “Manager Yuan, this is a very important case. You need to concentrate fully and avoid mistakes. Let Chen Xiao manage himself. Both of you have worked hard on this proposal today!”

Yuan Kai looked at Feng Feifei with a wronged expression. *Is this human talk? I’m wracking my brain on this proposal while he plays games, and you say we both worked hard? How can the boss confuse right and wrong like this?*

Feng Feifei didn’t pay him any mind and returned to her office.

After that, Chen Xiao finally played two stable rounds, wiping away the previous shadows. His teammates praised his reformed behavior.

Looking at the time, it was almost 5:30 PM, almost quitting time, yet Yuan Kai was still clattering away at the keyboard, not finished.

Damn, don’t tell me I have to work overtime with you. This isn’t volunteering for manual labor!

So fast? Chen Xiao opened it and saw that it was indeed better than his own work.

“No, Manager Yuan, this proposal doesn’t meet the client’s requirements. They want us to compare our equipment’s parameters with existing market devices, and also...”

“Manager Yuan, your proposal is excellent! But the client’s requests are reasonable. To avoid any mistakes, we should follow their requirements as closely as possible. What do you think?”

Me? What am I supposed to say? You two have already said everything!

“Director Feng, how can I let Manager Yuan work overtime alone? I have to stay with him!”
