Chapter 49: Having One's Wish Fulfilled

Bai Jie certainly wouldn't dare to think that way. With such a stunning beauty sitting in the passenger seat and still hoping you might have a change of heart, you must be out of your mind, right?

He had no desire to choke on the exhaust fumes behind the white Mercedes, mostly because he felt this might carry some underlying meaning—the meaning that he was utterly deluding himself!

He stepped on the gas and overtook them. Naturally, Chen Xiao paid no attention to them; whenever Zhao Xiangjun was around, he was completely absorbed in her.

When he parked in the garage earlier, he had already told his mother that he had met the person, they were unsuited for each other, they would go their separate ways, and being friends seemed out of the question as well.

His mother simply replied that she understood, but added that she would be coming to Jiangzhou this week. What for? Naturally, to see this girlfriend he kept talking about.

For one thing, her son finally had a girlfriend, and she wanted to come take a look; for another, she was worried her son might just be making things up to fool her.

On the way, Chen Xiao was discussing this matter with Zhao Xiangjun. Upon learning that Chen Xiao's mother was coming to meet her, she actually grew somewhat nervous.

Yet she did not refuse. Chen Xiao felt a quiet sense of triumph inside; given her personality, accepting such an arrangement was a monumental breakthrough!

"Chen Xiao, are your uncle and auntie teachers?"

She had never asked before, but having just heard Hua Jiao and the others mention Teacher Wang and how she was a colleague of Chen Xiao's parents, she naturally deduced that his parents were teachers too!

Upon learning that his parents were teachers, she asked with wonder, "Has the teaching profession become this lucrative?"

Chen Xiao knew she was curious about the source of his funds—where he got the money to buy such expensive real estate, and two units at that.

He could only explain to her that he had made some money by striking gold in the futures market, followed by a few smart investments that had already made him financially free!

She had never engaged in major business and had no idea how money was made. Chen Xiao's explanation sounded a bit far-fetched, but she could not think of any other explanation.

After all, with that much money, even robbing a bank wouldn't yield such a sum.

Learning that he had earned the money himself, she let out a sigh of relief. Previously, she had constantly worried that him spending his parents' money like this was utterly prodigal!

When the two arrived at the residential complex's vehicle entrance, they found a Tiguan blocking the gate, with its driver negotiating something with the security guard.

Let alone luxury residential areas, even developments meant for rigid housing demand did not allow unauthorized vehicles to enter. Chen Xiao was not in a hurry either, so he simply sat in the car and waited for a moment!

Bai Jie felt extremely awkward. He had promised to bring Hua Jiao in to experience a higher standard of living, only for the security guard to refuse entry!

"Do you know Bai Ziqiang? He's my cousin!"

"Little Bai is your cousin? He was on the day shift and has already gone off duty!"

"Can you make an exception and let us in? We just want to drive around the lake!"

Although they were relatives of a colleague, the guard dared not break the rules; if an owner inside filed a complaint, he would lose his job!

He flat out refused. Catching sight of the white Mercedes behind them, he hurriedly instructed Bai Jie to move his car aside first. Realizing he was blocking the road, Bai Jie pulled his car over to one side!

Then, as the white Mercedes behind them passed the Tiguan L and entered the residential gate, Bai Jie and Hua Jiao exchanged glances, seeing shock and bewilderment mirrored in each other's eyes.

Ultimately, they still failed to get in. Just as Bai Jie had said, people belonged to different social circles after all, and some places could not be entered simply by forcefully squeezing your way in.

On their drive back, Bai Jie and Hua Jiao each harbored their own thoughts. By the time Hua Jiao returned to her rented apartment, the two exchanged only a few brief words.

Clearly, Hua Jiao's mind was in turmoil today!

Naturally, Chen Xiao and Zhao Xiangjun had no idea they had inadvertently caused someone else such deep distress!

They bickered all the way home.

"Xiangjun, if you don't practice driving soon, this car is going to gather rust," Chen Xiao said, referring to the Zhijie R7.

"I see you're just afraid your money will rust since you refuse to spend it. You buy things indiscriminately every day—what do I need a car for?"

In the brief interval of riding the elevator up, Zhao Xiangjun told him about what had happened at the company over the past two days—mentioning Zhang Shijie's amiable nature, Wu Ting's gentle charm, and how the store manager had been exceptionally warm and close to her lately.

Chen Xiao smiled, guessing the reason behind it all.

"Where in this world is there any love that comes for no reason? Haven't you figured that much out yet, Director Zhao?"

Humph! When he called her Director Zhao, she assumed he was joking about her twenty-thousand-yuan investment in the store.

Inside the elevator, Zhao Xiangjun asked him with curiosity, "Why are you holding another kraft paper bag?"

The last time he had held a kraft paper bag, it contained her purchase contract and housing receipts!

Chen Xiao smiled and handed it to her. "Here, still yours?"

With a mix of surprise and suspicion, Zhao Xiangjun took it and asked, "What is it?"

"Open it and see for yourself." As he spoke, he unlocked Zhao Xiangjun's apartment door, and the two stepped inside.

Just as Chen Xiao flopped onto the sofa, he noticed the stunned expression on Zhao Xiangjun's face as she hastily finished reading the equity transfer agreement in her hands.

She said anxiously, "Chen Xiao, did you make up this fake contract?"

"Business registration changes, due diligence, internal decision-making, and financial settlement have all been completed," he replied. "You tell me whether it's real or fake!"

"No, what on earth are you doing day in and day out?"

She was losing her mind. Their relationship hadn't even been officially defined yet, and he had already given her an apartment—that was already absurd to the extreme.

And now, less than two days later, he had handed her 10% of Yinuo Company's equity. She was terrified that in a few more days, he might just gift her a listed company.

Bearing such a heavy gift, she felt under immense pressure.

Seeing her at a loss for what to do, Chen Xiao pulled her over into his arms and said, "Don't overthink it. I have plenty of money right now; whenever I see good assets, I just buy them."

"Buying this 10% equity in Yinuo offers a very high cost-performance ratio. Buying it means making a profit, and dividends will be distributed very soon. You're about to become a little wealthy woman in an instant!"

Zhao Xiangjun murmured softly, "I don't want to be a little wealthy woman!"

Chen Xiao chuckled. "Didn't you say before that you wanted to support me? How can you support me if you aren't a little wealthy woman?"

Zhao Xiangjun let out a soft hum and said coquettishly, "Wouldn't it work if you just ate a little less?"

Chen Xiao laughed. When holding her, he preferred action over words.

His large hand slid up and down her graceful back, occasionally wandering just below it.

She let out a soft "mm" and instinctively tried to push him away.

Chen Xiao shamelessly protested, "I've already touched it!"

Feeling the wonderful sensation beneath his hand, his thoughts drifted and he lost control. He murmured softly in her ear, "Darling, I want..."

She no longer resisted. When a man invested this much before their relationship was officially confirmed, what other explanation could there be besides being utterly in love with her?

Besides, it was love at first sight between her and Chen Xiao. From their initial misunderstandings to their later alignment in values, deep mutual understanding, and mutual respect and care, every little detail of their life together remained vivid in her mind, and every recollection brought sweetness to her heart.

Overwhelmed with excitement, Chen Xiao scooped her up in his arms and strode straight into the bedroom!

She reached out to wrap her arms around his head, responding to him with escalating passion all the way.
