Chapter Eight: Taking on Three, the Daoist Thunder Technique!
Feeling the surge of immense power within, Qin Feng was overwhelmed with excitement. Now he was far more confident in dealing with this group of disciples from the Yang Sect. Although he had only broken through a minor realm, the change in his strength felt earth-shattering. If he were to face Brother Wang just now, there would be no need for a sneak attack; he could confront him head-on without hesitation.
It was important to note that Qin Feng was currently in the mid-stage of the Black Zombie realm, while Brother Wang had already reached the initial stage of Qi Mastery—two full realms above him, one of which was a major realm.
Coming back to his senses, Qin Feng continued to suck the fresh blood from Brother Wang. After three sucks, the blood was all drained. His power had increased somewhat, but not enough to break through again. He discarded Brother Wang’s corpse and picked up the wooden stick he had crafted earlier. Swinging it hard a few times, it emitted a whistling sound through the air.
After breaking through his realm, not only had his strength increased, but even his hands had become more agile, though they still felt a bit clumsy in movement. With a few more practice swings, he believed he could restore his hand dexterity to that of a normal person. For now, there was no time to waste; he would refine his movements while fighting.
Gripping the wooden stick fiercely, Qin Feng leapt out with murderous intent. Outside the cave, his aunt’s battle with the Yang Sect’s steward had reached a boiling point. The three inner disciples of the Yang Sect buzzed around like pesky flies, occasionally launching sneak attacks. It was clear that his aunt was on the back foot, gradually losing ground. Her body was heavily wounded, her face pale, and cold sweat beaded her forehead.
A roar tore from Qin Feng’s throat, a deafening corpse howl that drew everyone’s attention. The Yang Sect steward’s brows furrowed in surprise, and the three inner disciples stared in shock. This little zombie was actually wielding a wooden stick.
“It actually knows how to use a weapon!”
“What’s going on? Wasn’t it killed by Brother Wang?”
“Mid-stage Black Zombie?! This zombie has broken through its realm; it looks like Brother Wang has been killed!”
“Kill it! Avenge Brother Wang!”
“This creature is strange—it doesn’t seem to be the demoness’s puppet. It knows how to use a weapon and was probably feigning death earlier. It clearly has some intelligence, and not low intelligence at that. Let’s attack together and avoid any mishaps.”
At that moment, the three inner disciples charged simultaneously. One wielded a peach wood sword. Biting his index finger, he smeared blood on the blade, which immediately radiated dazzling golden light. The other two drew out ink lines from their bodies, holding one end each, flanking Qin Feng as they rushed forward.
“Hoo!” Qin Feng exhaled a breath of corpse qi. Holding his approximately two-meter-long wooden stick, he smashed at the disciple holding the peach wood sword. Though unfamiliar with stick techniques, he knew that the longer the stick, the stronger the strike. He had deliberately made it longer during its crafting.
“Damn!” The disciple’s pupils contracted; unwilling to confront the force, he swiftly dodged. Zombies had great strength, and armed with a wooden stick, close combat was hard to gain an advantage against. After forcing the disciple back, Qin Feng twirled the stick, tangling the ink lines around it, then swept it horizontally to the left.
The wooden stick whistled through the air. The disciple on the left frowned, reacting swiftly. Lightly tapping the ground with his right foot, he leapt like a swallow, then stomped on the sweeping wooden stick, attempting to pin it down. But Qin Feng forcefully lifted it upward, sending the disciple flying away.
“Impressive—only mid-stage Black Zombie, yet the burst of power rivals that of a Jumping Zombie,” the flying disciple murmured, amazed that his full-strength stomp was effortlessly countered. Twisting midair, he controlled his descent, landing on the treetop of a large tree.
“You two, move aside!” he barked, then drew a yellow talisman and tossed it into the sky. His hands formed seals rapidly, fingers fluttering like blooming lotus flowers, weaving a series of hand signs.
“Essence of Heaven and Earth, rivers and fields wide, Thunder Lord strikes the staff, Lightning Mother commands the flow. By decree!” The incantation fell, the yellow talisman ignited in the air, smoke curling upward. Suddenly—
“Boom!”
A thunderclap like dry land thunder roared, shaking the sky and making Qin Feng’s heart leap with fear. An unprecedented dread swept over him.
“Feng’er, be careful—that’s the Yang Sect’s Yang Thunder Technique,” Mu Ruoxue, still battling the steward, warned loudly.
“Heh, demoness, do you really think that little zombie understands you?” the Yang Sect steward sneered coldly, then formed hand seals and launched a barrage of hand signs toward Mu Ruoxue.
“Yang Thunder Technique? The legendary thunder magic!” Qin Feng’s eyes sharpened as he looked toward the sky. The next moment—
“Boom!”
A piercing sky thunderbolt struck down like a flash of lightning. Qin Feng’s pupils contracted sharply, and he leapt back hastily.
“Bang!”
The thunderbolt struck the ground, sending dirt flying and stones scattering. The spot where he had just stood was now a half-meter-wide crater. That was close. Thankfully, his aunt’s warning came just in time.
“By decree, by decree, the sun rises in the east. I grant this spirit talisman to sweep away misfortune. Mouth breathes mountain fire; talisman flies with gate’s light. Monsters flee through heavens and ages; plague broken by years, devoured by Vajra…” Another disciple began his spell. He threw out a yellow talisman that erupted with a fierce fire serpent.
Qin Feng quickly dodged; the fiery tongue brushed past his cheek. The heat scorched his skin. Touching his face, he found pus and blood. His newly restored body was hurt again. Luckily, it was only a scrape; had the fire tongue hit directly, he would have been seriously wounded or worse.
“Creature, let’s see how long you can keep dodging!” The last disciple withdrew a Bagua Mirror from his body. With both hands, he rapidly formed seals on it, then placed it on the ground.
“Whoosh!”
A moonbeam descended from the sky, striking the center of the mirror. Instantly, the Bagua Mirror vibrated, then slowly rose, radiating golden light. The disciple stepped on the formation array, formed more hand seals, and chanted:
“Divine weapons of the world, essence of Bagua, summon mighty spirits, protect my form. Wind of Xun purifies, fire of Li shines bright, water of Kan guards the soul, mountain of Gen calms the spirit. Evil spirits disperse, calamities avoid. Golden light covers the body, all methods follow. Swift as the law’s decree!”
With the chant complete, he formed a sword finger and pointed at the Bagua Mirror.
“Whoosh!”
The mirror suddenly accelerated, flying into the air, then hovered magically. The entire sequence, though seeming complex, flowed seamlessly and naturally.
At that moment, the Bagua Mirror shot a beam of golden light like lightning toward Qin Feng. Its speed was too fast for him to dodge. In panic, he raised his wooden stick to block.
“Psh!”
The stick was pierced through by the golden beam, leaving a hole. Yet it just barely blocked the attack.
“Whoosh!”
But another golden beam came immediately after, making Qin Feng’s scalp tingle. These Taoist disciples were truly not to be underestimated.
“Feng’er, quickly retreat to the cave. It’s dark and cramped inside, which can limit their thunder magic and Bagua Mirror,” Mu Ruoxue’s voice rang out.
Hearing this, Qin Feng’s face brightened. Of course—how had he not thought of that? Even if their thunder magic was powerful, it couldn’t penetrate the cave to strike him. Without their thunder magic and Bagua Mirror, he could definitely defeat them. His aunt was indeed experienced and skillful.
Without hesitation, Qin Feng narrowly dodged the golden light attacks and turned to leap into the cave.
“Chase!” The three inner disciples’ faces darkened as they gave pursuit. If they couldn’t even handle a single Black Zombie together, they would be ridiculed endlessly. Although this zombie was extraordinary, possessing commendable intelligence, a Black Zombie was still a Black Zombie. No matter how remarkable, the vast gap in realm and strength was an insurmountable chasm.
The three inner disciples sheathed their magical tools and charged in unison into the cave. As soon as they entered, three white zombies leapt fiercely at them with murderous intent.
