Chapter 57: Thousands of Zombie Minions, Subjugating the Female Ghost!
Not long after.
Following the trail of deathly energy, Qin Feng arrived at the morgue.
As soon as he pushed the door open and stepped inside, a wave of chilling air rushed toward him.
A thermometer hanging on the wall showed that the temperature inside was a freezing minus ten degrees Celsius.
The spacious room was packed with mortuary racks.
Every single rack was labeled with a serial number, and upon each one lay a corpse.
The bodies were covered with white shrouds.
Beyond that, there were also large cold storage lockers inside, filled with stiff, frozen corpses.
In an adjacent area, there were many more bodies without any serial numbers.
These were presumably unclaimed corpses.
Qin Feng casually flipped back the white sheet of one of the bodies.
The deceased was a young girl in the prime of her youth, roughly sixteen or seventeen years old.
Her face was pale, and a light layer of frost dusted her eyebrows.
It was impossible to tell how she had died, but it was a terrible pity for someone so young.
Immediately afterward.
Qin Feng flicked his right hand.
A thick surge of corpse qi poured out.
Like a fierce gale, the corpse qi swept through the morgue, lifting the white shrouds off the bodies one by one.
Qin Feng cast a rough glance over them.
The majority of the corpses were elderly.
A small fraction of them belonged to young people.
There were also some bodies with missing hands or feet.
Although the mortuary cosmeticians had repaired the severed limbs, the traces of restoration were still clearly visible.
Corpses with missing hands and feet were naturally unusable.
What would a corpse look like with only one hand or one leg? Their combat capability would simply be inferior to that of a zombie with intact limbs.
As for the elderly corpses, as long as their limbs were complete, they would suffice.
Once undergoing a corpse transformation, they would all become zombies anyway.
Whether they were old or young made no difference at all.
Qin Feng's mind stirred.
Sharp nails grew out from both of his hands.
He slashed across each of the intact corpses one by one.
The corpse poison entered their bodies.
Five meters away.
Zombie after zombie stood up from the mortuary racks.
They had cyan faces and protruding fangs, arms held straight out, stiff limbs, heads unbowed, and eyes fixed straight ahead.
"Thud, thud, thud..."
These zombies hopped continuously around the morgue, then began to bow in reverence toward Qin Feng.
Qin Feng paid them no mind and continued slashing the remaining corpses.
Roughly five minutes later.
Thousands of hopping zombies were bowing in unison toward Qin Feng.
Like a well-trained army paying homage to their king.
The entire morgue, resembling a nest of zombies, was saturated with an intensely thick aura of death.
"Stop, all of you, stand at attention!"
Qin Feng pressed his hands down slightly.
All thousands of hopping zombies stood frozen in place with their arms held straight.
Qin Feng nodded in satisfaction and spoke again, "Stay right where you are. Without my command, no one is allowed to twitch a muscle!"
"Hiss..."
The zombies simultaneously exhaled a breath of corpse qi.
If any practitioner of the Taoist sects were to witness this scene, they would undoubtedly be frightened out of their wits.
Ordinarily, finding even a single zombie was exceptionally difficult.
Yet here, there were thousands of them, and every single one was a hopping zombie.
"Z-Zombie big brother..."
Just at that moment.
Fang Xiaolan, the female ghost clad in red, timidly poked her head out from the wall.
As for the rest of her body, it remained embedded inside the wall, as if her head was stuck.
"You know how to read the room; you actually came back. Why didn't you run away?" Qin Feng asked, looking at Fang Xiaolan.
"Well... in front of Zombie Big Brother, this little ghost wouldn't dare to run."
Fang Xiaolan offered an awkward smile, her demeanor exceedingly humble.
"You didn't take any lives, did you?" Qin Feng asked.
"No, I just scared them a bit. Though I suspect one of them might have been frightened out of his wits," Fang Xiaolan shook her head.
"As long as no one died, it's fine. If he was scared out of his wits, he brought it on himself."
At this, a faint smile surfaced on Qin Feng's lips. "You've come at just the right time. I heard ghosts can cloud people's minds; I wonder if you know how?"
"I do, but my cultivation is low, so I can only bewilder those with weak vital energy," Fang Xiaolan replied with a bitter smile.
"As long as you can bewilder them, that's enough. Go outside and help me lure a large truck driver over here. Remember, make sure he drives his truck here as well," Qin Feng said sternly.
"Zombie Big Brother, aren't... aren't you afraid I'll run away?"
Fang Xiaolan stared blankly at Qin Feng.
This zombie seemed quite intelligent; how could it make such a foolish mistake?
Asking her to lure a truck driver was practically giving her a chance to flee far away.
"Aren't you a straightforward fierce ghost yourself? Instead of sneaking away, you chose to warn me. Rest assured, I have plenty of methods to control you. Come here."
Qin Feng beckoned to Fang Xiaolan with his hand.
"O-Okay..."
Trembling, Fang Xiaolan walked up to Qin Feng.
She lowered her head, completely clueless about what Qin Feng intended to do.
"Rip!"
The next second.
Qin Feng grabbed Fang Xiaolan's right arm and tore it off directly with brutal force.
"Ugh..."
Fang Xiaolan's face contorted in pain, but she did not dare to scream out loud.
Having obtained Fang Xiaolan's right arm, Qin Feng retrieved a yellow Taoist talisman from his person. After forming hand seals and chanting an incantation, he channeled a wisp of ghost qi from the arm into the talisman.
That wisp of ghost qi was none other than Fang Xiaolan's right arm.
As a ghost, Fang Xiaolan was inherently a powerful mass of energy.
Her physical form was entirely an illusion conjured up.
How could a ghost possess a true physical body? If she had one, she wouldn't have been able to pass through walls.
True to this fact.
Just as her right arm was torn off, Fang Xiaolan's right arm immediately recondensed on her body.
"Alright, you may go now. Don't even think about escaping. If you haven't returned within two hours, I will burn this yellow talisman, and your soul will scatter along with it. Don't regret warning me earlier either; even if you hadn't, I still would have controlled you. Serve me well, and I won't treat you unfairly," Qin Feng stated.
"I... I'll go right now..."
Not daring to hesitate, Fang Xiaolan phased directly through the wall and left.
Once outside the funeral home, her face was etched with shock.
This zombie was actually capable of using Taoist talismans!
Those hand seals it had performed earlier—was it casting Taoist sorcery?
Good heavens.
A zombie could actually execute Taoist arts now!
And what about the zombies inside the morgue?
She hadn't sensed any zombies when she was absorbing deathly energy in there earlier, so how had so many suddenly popped up?
Could all those zombies have been created through corpse transformation just moments ago?
"This... this..."
Fang Xiaolan felt her brain struggling to process it all.
As a fierce ghost, her worldview was on the verge of total collapse.
A zombie that could wield Taoist sorcery.
And one that could transform countless corpses into hopping zombies within such a short span of time.
It truly felt inconceivable, almost impossible to believe.
"Forget it. As long as I serve it well, it shouldn't kill me. Regardless of whether it can practice Taoism, it's a fact that it possesses an army of zombie subordinates. Following it might not necessarily be a bad thing. Besides, this way I can shake off Granny. If Granny ever comes looking for me, I can just let this thing deal with her," Fang Xiaolan thought to herself.
Meanwhile.
Inside the morgue.
Qin Feng had already moved to a different room.
The Guiningyuan Funeral Home was massive, and there was more than one morgue.
A few thousand zombies were still far from reaching Qin Feng's goal.
This time, he intended to pilfer at least ten to twenty thousand corpses.
Otherwise, if he wanted to steal more in the future, he wouldn't get another chance.
With so many corpses missing all at once, the director of the funeral home would likely be fired and held accountable.
It might even make tomorrow's headlines.
He could already guess the title; true to the sensationalist nature of journalists, it would undoubtedly read: *'SHOCKING DISCOVERY: "CORPSE VAULT BLACK HOLE" APPEARS AT SONGSHAN FUNERAL HOME! MIDNIGHT SURVEILLANCE CAPTURES THE BIZARRE INSTANTANEOUS EVAPORATION OF TEN THOUSAND REMAINS'.*
