Chapter Thirty-Four: The Peach Tree Demon!

“Haah!!!”
“Roar!!!”
From beneath the ground came the furious howls of the Black Stiff Corpse.
The next moment—
“Boom!!!”
The Black Stiff Corpse was hurled out by a tremendous force.
It was covered with numerous puncture wounds. Even a piece of skin had been torn from its shoulder.
The piece of skin looked as though something had bitten it. Perhaps it had tasted unpleasant, and whatever had bitten it had abandoned the thought of eating it.
“Feng, be careful!”
Mu Ruxue drew her peach-wood sword and warily surveyed their surroundings.
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!”
In an instant, more than a dozen roots as thick as arms shot rapidly out of the earth.
They writhed in the air like the tentacles of a gigantic octopus monster.
“It’s a tree demon!”
Mu Ruxue’s expression darkened. She swept her right hand outward.
“Whoosh!”
A talisman tore through the air.
“Boom!”
The yellow talisman struck one of the roots.
“Crack!!!”
The arm-thick root exploded into two pieces.
Qin Feng clicked his tongue inwardly.
His aunt was truly powerful.
As expected of an expert in the Soul-Departure Realm.
She had probably reached the middle or late stage of that realm.
Even Wufeng, who was only in the early stage of the Soul-Departure Realm, did not possess power as formidable as hers.
The explosion seemed to enrage the tree demon.
The dozen or so remaining roots shot toward Qin Feng and Mu Ruxue like arrows loosed from a bowstring.
“You’re courting death!”
Mu Ruxue touched the ground with the tips of her toes and leapt into the air.
She bit down on the index finger of her left hand and smeared the blood across the peach-wood sword.
“Whoosh!”
The peach-wood sword burst into golden radiance.
Mu Ruxue flicked her right wrist and unleashed her sword technique.
“Swish, swish, swish!”
The incoming roots were blocked one after another.
The roots were sliced into countless sections.
But in the next instant, a root burst from the earth beneath Mu Ruxue.
Like a bolt of lightning, it stabbed upward toward her.
This tree demon was truly devious.
“Aunt, watch out!”
Qin Feng sprang into the air and lunged forward.
He seized the root with one hand.
With a thought, ten sharp claws grew from his fingers and pierced directly into the root.

“Roar!!!”
Accompanied by a deafening corpse roar, Qin Feng summoned every ounce of his strength.
Gripping the root tightly with both hands, he yanked with all his might.
Under his tremendous strength, the ground began to split apart.
The root buried beneath the soil slowly emerged.
Qin Feng quickly seized it around the middle and continued pulling.
The root twisted and writhed frantically in his hands.
Even the other roots attacked him.
Mu Ruxue strode across the earth in a ritual gait and came before Qin Feng, shielding him from the roots’ attacks.
Qin Feng continued to pull.
More and more of the root emerged, until at last its base appeared beneath a blooming peach tree.
“So it’s you!”
Qin Feng extended his sharp claws and cut the root cleanly in two.
“Haah!”
He spat a stream of corpse aura from his mouth and charged toward the peach tree.
The tree seemed to have once been struck by lightning.
From top to bottom, it had been split in half.
Yet it had stubbornly survived.
It had even lived into a second life.
Both halves of the peach tree grew luxuriant branches. Together, they covered at least two or three hundred square meters of ground.
A peach tree of such immense size must have lived for countless years.
Its vivid blossoms were breathtakingly beautiful.
Unfortunately, beautiful things were often deadly.
A vast heap of bones lay piled beneath the peach tree.
“Swish, swish, swish!”
Seeing Qin Feng charge toward it, the peach tree shook violently.
Its petals fell, yet remained suspended in midair.
Then—
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!”
Countless petals tore through the air and shot toward Qin Feng like a storm of pear blossoms.
“Pfft… pfft…”
The petals struck Qin Feng like razor-sharp blades.
Even with his formidable physical body, he was slashed from head to toe.
The wounds were merely superficial, however, and did not hinder him in the slightest.
The petals were unable to cut any deeper into his flesh.
They only left him looking rather ridiculous.
His clothes and trousers had been shredded into tatters.
Seeing Qin Feng’s pitiful appearance, Mu Ruxue was both worried and unable to suppress a smile.
She leapt into the air, somersaulted twice, spun a full three hundred and sixty degrees, and landed steadily in front of Qin Feng.
She glanced back at him.
A blush spread across her cheeks, and she hurriedly withdrew her gaze, turning instead toward the peach-tree demon.
“Feng, step back. Let your aunt deal with it.”
Mu Ruxue held her sword horizontally in her right hand. A sharp, intimidating aura radiated from her entire body.
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!”
The peach tree shook again, sending countless petals rushing toward Mu Ruxue.
She unleashed a fierce and unpredictable sword technique, weaving her blade before her in a seamless barrier.
The petals could not approach her at all.
When the assault ended, Mu Ruxue moved in a ritual gait and charged forward.

But dozens of roots burst from around the peach tree.
They whipped wildly through the air and launched a coordinated assault on Mu Ruxue.
At the same time, the peach tree unleashed another barrage of petals.
This time, Mu Ruxue could no longer withstand it.
She was forced to retreat.
“Aunt, stay behind me.”
Qin Feng stepped forward and placed himself in front of Mu Ruxue.
As he walked toward the storm of petals, black hair rapidly grew across his body.
The dense hair transformed him into a long-haired monster.
Under Qin Feng’s control, the strands actually wove themselves into a shield that wrapped him completely.
The idea had occurred to him on a whim.
He had wanted to see whether it would work.
He had not expected it to work so well.
“Clang, clang, clang!”
When the petals struck the hair, they produced sounds like metal being hammered, accompanied by countless sparks.
“This…”
Standing behind Qin Feng, Mu Ruxue stared in astonishment.
She knew that Qin Feng could retract both his hair and his claws.
But she had never dreamed that his hair could bend and form a protective shield—and that its defensive power would be so terrifying.
She felt that the hair’s defensive strength was enough to withstand even the heavenly lightning summoned by a Daoist mage in the Spirit Communion Realm.
Feng was truly monstrous.
Even she was finding it increasingly difficult to understand him.
She had no idea how many more astonishing abilities he still possessed.
And he was only in the early stage of the Hairy Corpse Realm.
If he reached the Copper-Armored Corpse Realm, or even the Silver-Armored Corpse Realm, how powerful would he become?
When that day came, she would no longer need to worry about Feng’s safety, would she?
After all, no one would be able to deal with him anymore.
By then, she could finally consider her duty fulfilled and feel she had done right by Feng’s deceased parents.
No.
It would not yet be complete.
Feng had not married or had children.
Although he was a corpse demon, he was becoming more and more like a human being.
His physical endowment in that regard was also astonishing.
Perhaps, in time, he would become completely indistinguishable from a human.
She would still have to find Feng a wife.
Casting aside her wild thoughts, Mu Ruxue leapt into the air.
Wielding her peach-wood sword, she resembled a valiant female general galloping across a battlefield as she launched an assault on the peach-tree demon’s roots.
Once Qin Feng had blocked the petals, the hair automatically retracted.
He sprang upward, leaping directly into the air six meters above the ground.
“Roar!!!”
With a fierce howl, Qin Feng pounced on the peach tree like a bloodthirsty beast.
The peach tree hastily sent out a root.
It launched a sneak attack from behind, wrapping itself around Qin Feng as he hung in midair.
“Feng!!!”
Mu Ruxue’s brows lifted, and a trace of worry appeared in her bright, captivating eyes.
