Internal Turmoil Chapter 14: Senior Sister, You’re the One Who Forced My Hand

Chu Xing felt a headache coming on.
Of all times for this girl to faint, she had chosen now. What was he supposed to do?
Leave her behind and run?
No. He rejected the thought immediately.
From the look of things, an old ailment had clearly flared up inside her. If he simply left her unconscious in this desolate mountain cave and something happened to her, the sect would certainly blame him. He would be the first person they suspected.
Then... should he carry her back to her residence in the Alchemy Hall?
The moment the thought arose, Chu Xing crushed it.
Was he joking? She was in such a disheveled state, and he was an outer-sect male disciple. Carrying her back in the dead of night? That scene would be even more troublesome than being caught by her here. Even if she did not kill him, the sect's gossip alone would be enough to drown him.
He could neither abandon her nor take her back. With her in his arms, he truly felt as though he were holding a blazing hot potato.
The astonishing heat against his hands reminded Chu Xing that Mu Wanqing's condition was extremely dire. That warmth was not an ordinary fever. It was a sign that a violent medicinal force was running wild through her body, scorching her meridians.
Just as he was caught between two impossible choices, Mu Wanqing let out an even more anguished moan in his arms. Beneath her tightly knitted brows, her long lashes trembled without pause. She was clearly enduring unimaginable torment.
Seeing her suffering, Chu Xing felt a trace of guilt rise inexplicably in his heart.
When all was said and done, if he had not been the one peeping first and been caught red-handed, she would not have lost control of her emotions in anger, forcibly circulated her essence power in an attempt to silence him, and ultimately triggered her old illness.
Chu Xing clenched his teeth.
Damn it. There was no time to worry about anything else!
Having made up his mind, Chu Xing stopped hesitating. He carefully laid Mu Wanqing flat on a patch of relatively clean grass.
This heaven-blessed beauty, usually aloof and cold as frost, now lay defenseless before him. As her posture changed, her drenched undergarment clung tightly to her body, revealing every graceful curve.
Chu Xing gave a bitter laugh inwardly and drew a deep breath, forcing his turbulent thoughts to settle.
“Senior Sister, forgive me.”
With a low murmur, Chu Xing extended his index and middle fingers and slowly moved them toward Mu Wanqing's lower abdomen. Driven by instinct, his fingertips stopped there.
He merely wanted to try using the gentle warmth within him to ease her suffering.
However, at the instant before his fingertips touched her skin—
“Buzz!”
An incomparably domineering protective essence force erupted automatically from within Mu Wanqing and struck his fingers with tremendous force.
“Hiss...”
A sharp pain shot through his fingertips, and Chu Xing jerked his hand back as though electrocuted.

What tyrannical protective essence force!
Shaking his numb fingers, Chu Xing's eyes flashed with alarm. Even while unconscious, this woman's instinctive defenses were astonishingly powerful. No wonder she was an inner-sect prodigy.
Ordinary essence-force infusion was completely useless.
What was he supposed to do? Was he really going to watch helplessly as something happened to her?
Chu Xing's gaze fell again upon Mu Wanqing's face, which had grown even paler from the pain. His eyes narrowed, and a look of resolve crossed his features.
At this point, he had no choice but to try the impossible.
He reached out again. This time, however, he did not use his fingers. He pressed his entire palm against Mu Wanqing's burning lower abdomen.
At the same time, he sank his consciousness into his dantian and concentrated every ounce of his will upon the mysterious black stone bead. He intended to borrow the bead's power to force his way through that layer of protective essence force.
“Open for me... now!”
He roared inwardly.
The instant his palm made contact with Mu Wanqing's skin, an incredible scene unfolded.
The protective essence force that had automatically erupted from within Mu Wanqing did not repel him again. Instead, the moment it touched his palm, it seemed to encounter its natural nemesis and faltered slightly.
Now!
Seizing this rare opportunity, Chu Xing immediately mobilized the mild, warm current transformed by the stone bead and cautiously attempted to send it into Mu Wanqing's body.
Yet the moment his warm current came into contact with the violent power within her—
“Buzz!”
A sudden change occurred.
The black stone bead in his palm seemed like a shark that had caught the scent of blood. It erupted with a greedy, overbearing suction force unlike anything it had ever displayed before.
Chu Xing was given no time to react.
Streams of searing energy, infused with the medicinal properties of hundreds of herbs, were forcibly drawn out of Mu Wanqing's body by the stone bead. They surged through his palm and poured madly into him.
Chu Xing's body shook violently. It was as though he had been struck by lightning, and his mind went blank.
What was this?
This power contained the burning heat of the Scarlet Sun Flower, the frigid yin energy of the Frost凝 Herb, the toughness of Ironwood Branches... The essences of more than a hundred medicinal forces had never been harmonized in a pill furnace. Instead, they were chaotically entangled together, forming an unbelievably strange mixture.
This was absolutely not something that should exist within an ordinary martial artist's body!

He understood in an instant.
There was definitely something wrong with this girl's constitution! She was like a pill furnace that could never fully digest its contents, allowing the residual medicinal forces from every refinement to settle within her body.
To her, these substances were venom that gnawed at the bones, curses that heralded death.
But... what about him?
While Chu Xing was still stunned and bewildered, the chaotic current surging into his body had already been swallowed whole by the black stone bead.
The bead trembled faintly.
In the next instant, an immense stream of gentle energy, purer and more abundant than the energy he had absorbed from Dragonblood Grass, burst forth in return. It crashed through Chu Xing's meridians with overwhelming force.
Under the impact of this energy, the bottleneck at the peak of the sixth stage of Body Tempering failed to produce even the slightest ripple before shattering outright.
Boom!
Body Tempering, seventh stage!
He had actually broken through!
Chu Xing was completely dumbfounded.
He stared blankly at the palm pressed against Mu Wanqing's lower abdomen, feeling the pure energy that continued to pour into him without end. An uncontrollable thought rose from the deepest part of his heart.
This... this was no deadly poison.
This was clearly... a miraculous elixir in human form! The most potent tonic in the entire world!
Chu Xing wanted to stop, but he discovered that he could not control the stone bead's greed at all. The bead, dormant for so long, now resembled a parched spiritual field, frantically absorbing the sudden rain from heaven.
All he could do was watch helplessly as wave after wave of medicinal energy flowed into his body, was devoured by the stone bead, and was then returned as streams of incomparably pure power, driving his cultivation steadily upward.
At the same time, Chu Xing could clearly sense the violent, disordered aura within Mu Wanqing beginning to stabilize at an astonishing speed.
The stubborn remnants entrenched deep within her meridians—ailments that even the Spirit Spring could barely suppress—were now being devoured and cleared away almost completely by the stone bead's domineering power.
As the chaotic medicinal energy drained away, the burning skin beneath his palm gradually cooled at a visible rate, returning to its normal, gentle warmth.
The tight furrow between Mu Wanqing's brows slowly smoothed away. Her breathing became calm and steady, and a faint flush even returned to her pale, lovely face.
