Chapter 10: Madman Number One, Wen Haoxuan
"Let go."
The cold, sharp voice rang out. Before Wen Haoran's brain could even process the command, his hands released their grip as if by reflex. He dropped them to his sides, his expression instantly reverting to a calm, emotionless mask.
"Big Brother, you're here too!" Wen Haoran began.
Wen Haoxuan did not reply. Instead, he reached out and gently brushed Wen Miaohan’s arm. "Does it hurt?"
Wen Miaohan looked up at the first madman of this book: the eldest young master of the Wen family, Wen Haoxuan.
Wen Haoxuan, the current head of the Wen family, had been groomed as the family successor since childhood. He was a man who kept his emotions well-hidden, acted with rigorous discipline, and held his younger siblings to exacting standards.
Usually, Wen Haoyu and the others dared not act recklessly in his presence. In the past, only the original owner of this body had dared to tweak the tiger's whiskers.
However, ever since it was revealed that she was not the true daughter of the Wen family, the original owner could no longer face Wen Haoxuan with her former ease. She became cautious and timid in every interaction. Eventually, whenever Wen Haoxuan was home, she would refuse to return, or if she was already there, she would hide in her room, only emerging after he had left for the office.
Wen Haoxuan had seen these changes. To give her some breathing room, he had been the first to agree when she proposed moving out of the Wen residence.
Once the head of the family gave his consent, no one else dared to raise an objection.
Yet, that move led to her dying alone in an apartment, her body undiscovered until it began to decompose. When the other tenants reported the stench to the police and the paparazzi descended, the news shattered the Wen family. Wen Haoxuan’s first display of raw emotion was triggered by the loss of his beloved sister.
After her funeral, Wen Haoxuan lost his mind. Believing her death was his fault for allowing her to move out, he bought up every brand that had terminated their contracts with her once they learned she wasn't the "true" Wen daughter. After handing the power of the Wen family over to Wen Haoyu, he moved into the cemetery, spending his days talking to her grave.
Yesterday, Wen Haoxuan had stayed at the hospital to accompany Wen Miaohan, but fearing he would make her uncomfortable, he had hidden behind the others, remaining silent. Having just transmigrated, Wen Miaohan was still struggling to match names to faces among the Wen family members and hadn't even noticed who was there.
Had Wen Haoxuan not spoken just now, she would have continued to treat him as part of the background. As for being the head of the Wen family? In Wen Miaohan’s eyes, these people were merely characters on paper she had written. Others might fear them, but she certainly didn't. If they annoyed her, and if she could truly return to her world, she would write them to their deaths in a heartbeat.
Because Wen Miaohan did not fear Wen Haoxuan, she replied quite naturally to his inquiry. "Big Brother, what do you think? You know how strong Third Brother’s grip is. It might even bruise."
Being the female lead, she naturally possessed the standard porcelain-fair skin, which meant that even the slightest external force could easily leave a mark.
Upon hearing this, Wen Haoxuan’s icy gaze whipped toward Wen Haoran, who felt a chill run straight down his spine.
Damn it!
Big Brother was angry. Was he going to be exiled to some godforsaken wasteland again?
Wen Haoxuan was a medical professional and a dedicated researcher. Previously, because he had spent six consecutive months in the laboratory without coming home, he had infuriated their mother. Wen Haoxuan had responded by cutting off the research institute's funding and exiling him to a small desert nation to provide medical aid.
After three months of living covered in sand and grime, Wen Haoran never dared to disappear for half a year again, making sure to return home at least once a month to have dinner with their mother.
"Look, Hanhan, Third Brother was just so worried about your illness that he lost his sense of proportion," Wen Haoran explained anxiously. Fearing his eldest brother’s scrutiny, he immediately employed a diversion tactic.
"Second Brother, how could Hanhan suffer so much grievance while at your company? How are you running things as a boss and a brother? Have you dealt with that Fang Le and that Ye whatever-her-name-is?"
At this question, everyone turned to look at Wen Haoyu, including Wen Miaohan.
Originally, she had set the fate of Fang Le and Ye Lin to be ruined by Wen Haoyu within two days. Now that she had transmigrated and altered the plot, she wondered if the actions of these paper characters would change accordingly.
Seeing everyone’s gaze, a cold glint flashed in Wen Haoyu’s eyes behind his gold-rimmed glasses. "Did you think they could continue living carefree lives after bullying the treasure of the Wen family?"
The insults on the internet were nothing more than superficial harm to Fang Le and Ye Lin; the real show was yet to come.
For women as vain as them, the pain would only sink into their marrow once they fell into the dirt, where anyone could trample them.
Last night, Wen Haoyu had personally paved a road to hell for their future. First, no matter how high their degrees or how capable they were, it would be impossible for them to work as white-collar or blue-collar professionals.
Blacklisted by the Wen Corporation, they would be unable to find work anywhere else. Now, the only jobs they could find were as general laborers in small workshops or as waitresses in minor shops.
But no matter where they worked, they would be fired within two days. They would be trapped in a cycle of searching for work and being fired until they suffered a mental breakdown—at which point, a "Prince Charming" would supposedly appear to whisk them away to their dream paradise.
"Your recent judgment is highly questionable. If you can't handle this properly, go back to the academy for a refresher," Wen Haoxuan said with a tone so cold it felt like dropping Wen Haoyu into an ice cellar.
Wen Haoyu’s face was bitter. He knew that since his eldest brother had said it, even if he did the job perfectly, he would still have to undergo that "refresher."
However, he did need to relearn a few things. Because of his negligence, Hanhan had suffered so much; wasn't it only right that he accompany her?
Listening from the side, Wen Haoran kept his mouth shut, terrified of making a sound. Big Brother clearly loved him more—he only exiled him to a distant land, not back to the academy. Poor, unloved Second Brother; how tragic!
Large families usually had their own private academies. The Wen family was no exception. All the men had to graduate from the academy before they could take over the family business. Going back for a "refresher" meant starting the entire curriculum over. Heavens, that was a hellish experience that made their past decade of schooling look like a vacation—not even a dog would want to endure that!
"Alright, if you brothers have things to discuss, go do it elsewhere. Stop blocking Hanhan from getting up to wash and eat breakfast."
Seeing Wen Miaohan still trapped in bed, Mother Wen couldn't stand these men any longer and began shooing them away.
