Chapter 117: Selling, Also Collecting

Chu Junhan slammed his sharp sword onto the counter, his brows furrowed fiercely, a slight arch to his eyebrows: “One million taels in cash.” The young general’s imposing aura was overwhelming, and the crisp sound of the sword hitting the counter seemed to say that if the shop assistant dared to arbitrarily raise the price, he would be struck down on the spot.
The shop assistant kowtowed obsequiously: “Young General, what do you need?”
“Do you have any pills that can cure all poisons?”
The shop assistant quickly nodded, “Yes, yes, yes, please wait a moment, young guest.” With that, he turned and hurried to the back room.
Chu Junhan nodded slightly and replied softly, inwardly skeptical: Could they really have such a thing?
Soon, the assistant returned holding a bottle of pills, lowering his eyes respectfully as he handed it to the young general: “Young General, this is an antidote pill. Within half an hour after taking it, any poison will have no effect.”
“Hmm.” Chu Junhan took the pill, picked up the sword from the counter, and turned to leave.
“Young General…”
“What is it?” Chu Junhan’s displeasure was evident. If the shop assistant dared to recklessly overcharge again, he wouldn’t guarantee his own restraint; he might just slash him down on the spot!
The assistant smiled awkwardly, eyes flickering toward a nearby chest, then bowed his head: “Young General, if you would…”

“How about it?” The young boy’s hand gripped the sword hilt tightly. Despite the widespread power of the Jiuling Trading Company and their repeated mockery, this was something he truly could not tolerate.
The shop assistant broke into a cold sweat, trembling: “Young General, you’ve paid too much. According to company regulations, this antidote pill only costs five thousand taels of silver!”
“That cheap?”
“...” The soldiers around felt embarrassed—five thousand taels was no trivial sum. Ordinary people might never save that much in a lifetime!
If they knew that a single piece of intelligence was worth a million, they would also exclaim at the bargain, just like their young general.
The shop assistant hastily explained, “Sir, you might not know, but our trading company has fixed prices. Except for intelligence of priceless value, everyday essentials are quite affordable.”
“Everyday essentials? Like rice, oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar?” Chu Junhan sneered. The shop assistant was truly bluffing.
The assistant looked serious, listing off the shop’s inventory as if recounting treasured possessions: “Young General, do you want rice from the northern Ren Da Kingdom, or fruits from the western regions of the Qian De Kingdom, or perhaps rice from the southern borderlands of the Tian Qing Kingdom?”
“Ha!” Chu Junhan was grateful he wasn’t drinking tea, or he might have choked. “You actually sell those?!”
The assistant’s face beamed with pride. “Of course! Five wen per liang. How much do you need, Young General?”
“You sell provisions too?” Chu Junhan’s interest in Jiuling Trading Company grew deeper.

“We sell and we buy!”
“Buy? What do you mean?”
The assistant pulled out an account book and lightly flipped it open for Chu Junhan to see. “Buy means that when others occupy a city but the army must keep advancing and cannot carry everything away, they sell those supplies to us.”
“Who has sold you provisions recently?” Chu Junhan stood on tiptoe, craning his neck, trying to read the entries in the account book.
The assistant snapped the book shut with a mysterious smile: “That, sir, I cannot disclose!”
“Boring!” Chu Junhan curled his lips. Having dealt with the Jiuling Trading Company many times, he knew they were a stubborn bunch and saw no point in pressing further. He raised his hand and led his soldiers away.
“Hey—Young General, your silver.” The shop assistant stretched his neck and raised his voice.
The young boy’s voice faded into the distance, tinged with youthful innocence: “Remember, next time I need to buy something, no need to bring silver.”
“Remember? Interesting!” The shadow disappeared.
